In Need of Borrowing or Buying an Ergo or Baby Hawk

I have tried 4 different slings. This is my 3rd and he LOVES being worn; I wanted to try a back carrier with the front still an option. He is 6 mos. Does anyone have a baby hawk or Ergo they want to sell? I could try out for a weekend before purchasing a new one? Any feedback on either? Thanks.

What can I do next?

I have an Ergo that I was planning on selling. It is in good condition everywhere except the hoodie. My dog chewed the snaps so it doesn't snap in place but I used to tie it and it was fine. I live in Fort Lauderdale so I would have to ship it. If you are interested in it, let me know and we can discuss price. I hated the slings and feel in love with the Ergo when my son was 4 months. I wore him in it until he was about 18 months. Once he was 18 months, I switched him to a hip carrier for quick trips to the gym but used the Ergo when we went to Disney and such. My Ergo is the cute one with insects on the lining.

You should try thebabywearer.com. They have a For Sale or Trade (FSOT) section where mom's are selling gently used carriers of all kinds. Plus they have links to local baby wearing meetings where you can try lots of carriers. I don't know where you live - I'm in Plantation/Sunrise (FL). There is a meeting on the 13th at Volunteer Park at 10am. I am going to try a Beco Butterfly before I buy one. Good luck!

Have you tried Craigslist??
I have a 6 month old and I don't think she's ready for our backcarrier yet. I do have a hip hammock that works GREAT though...not for sale, just a suggestion!

I'm not familiar with those 2 carriers but I think ( I could be wrong) that a little one that young should only be worn on the front or side. I have a mayawrap (which I love! It's so versatile) and I know they recommend that the little one is only worn on the back when they are a little older. But this may be different with other carriers.

I recieved the Ergo as a gift and like it. it works well for back riding (I would agree that back carry is for older babies)and is much better on your back that the bjorn...the downside is that I prefer my daughter in the front and she likes to face front - the ergo does not work for that.
