In Need of a Good Skin Care Product for Adult

I've had to combat acne throughout my teen years, 20's, and now that I'm in my mid-30's, I'm still trying to get rid of them (along with fine lines and sunspots). My skin is sensitive. It can be oily or dry depending on the day. And it gets worse during my period Any of you have tried a product that is great, and doesn't dry up my skin too much?

Shaklee Enfuselle! No more acne, cleared up the acne scars, no wrinkles, no dry skin! I have used it since it came out 15 or so years ago. I still get carded, when in truth my daughter and her husband will make me a grandma in July.

I see that you've had many responses. I have been using the line from acne.org (I tried Proactiv-did not work). It's really the only thing that has worked for me. I have dry sensitive skin, too, and these products are not harsh. The set also lasts about 6 months and is very affordable.
Good luck!

Hi J.,
I also have sensitive and tend to have mild acne breakouts when I'm pregnant. I have used Dermalogica 15 or more years with great results. You can buy it at Ulta and also at a few different spas around Dallas. They have a few different types of cleansers but I would recommend you start with the AntiBac (not harsh at all) and active moist lotion. They have all kinds of creams to choose from. Good luck.

Hi J.,
Enfuselle is a skin care line from Shaklee. These products are so awesome and have 8 patents on them. They are vitamins for the skin. In three days, I could count the wrinkles that were gone from my skin (I took a "before" photo or I would have believed it.) I didn't have acne but some blemishes. Those and my redish areas were also cleared up in less than a month. My skin was so soft and hydrated.
These products are 100% guaranteed for satisfaction or your money back. You can check them out at http://www.shaklee.net/healthforlife
Let me know if you want a sample.

Hello J.!

I saw a few people mention Arbonne. I wanted to give you a little more information on it.

All of Arbonne's products are:
Ph Correct (correct the acid mantle - first line of defense against toxins, germs, etc)

Dermatologist tested (tested under the supervision of an independent dermatologist)

Botanically based (uses herbs and botanicals as the basis of formulation)

Never tested on animals (no need to none of our ingredients are harmful to humans)

Vegan certified (contains no animal products or by-products)

No Mineral Oil (Cheap filler with no benefit)

Hypoallergenic (don't use harsh chemicals or fragrances known to cause allergic reactions - we test to a 0% rating as opposed to the 4% that is recommended)

The anti-aging line has nanosphere technology which detects whats wrong with your skin (if it's dry gives you moisture if it's oily it will absorb oil.)

I use the anti-aging line everyday and absolutely love it. If you'd like before and after pics please let me know I will email them to you. If you'd like a sample please let me know, we can either get together for a facial or I can send you a sample.

I hope this info helps.

Take care and God bless!

I would recommend Arbonne products. I can give you the name of my rep. She would be a good one to talk to because she has struggled with those same problems as an adult adn has kept them in check with the products. Another grocery store option would be the Aveeno clear complexion cream cleanser. I use it when I run out of Arbonne. It is good for the winter because it is very moisturizing but not oily (2 VERY different things) i talso has little exfoliating beads that get all the makeup and dead skin off with out being harsh.

I have always battled acne and even went through a horrible time with acne drugs in my 20's. Microderm abrasion and a mild acid peel two years ago has made my skin so much smoother and brighter. It helped smooth out my deep acne scars. I don't have the extra money anymore to go to a professional, but the drug store micro derm products really do work. I still break out at age 32, but using a moisturizer with salacylic acid keeps my skin smooth and controls the major flare-ups. My mom is 57 and still suffers from acne, so I just do my best to control it.

If it is severe, I suggest seeing a dermatologist about Accutane. I took it as a teen and again after my son was born, I was 27. Also, check out acne.org. There is a great blog system of suggestions. I have been using his system for a few months and it seems to work. I use the Acne Free cleanser, Neutrogena On the Spot and a Neutrogune lotion (all purchsed at WalMart). I also use a different, richer cream for my eyes (I am 40). If you check out the acne.org website, you will understand the product selection.

I have used Clinique products since I was about 11 yrs old. I am now 48 and I pass for early 30's.

They have great quality products, also recommended by top notch dermatologists. Also, if you purchase a product and you don't like it...they will take it back. I personally prefer to work with a Clinique rep at the higher end department stores. These reps work for Clinique and they know the products very well and can help you find what is best for you.

My 14 yr old daughter has used Clinique since she was about 10. Since she is a teen, to be proactive and prevent blemishes she uses the Acne wash and the gel moisturizer.

I use the Repairwear series of products now and I love them.

We are both very diligent with our skin care and we never go to bed without a good cleasne and moisturizers.

We both have good skin and I do attribute it to our habits and Clinique.

If you need a top notch dermatologist....Dr. Allen Menter and his team located at downtown Baylor are fantastic. They have a website www.texasderm.com Dr. Menter and his PA's are highly regarded in the industry, the dont' push other products and they do a great job.

Good luck.

gluten-free

I started with buying a trial size set from my rep that was only $12. If you are interested, I would be glad to get a trial size set for you.

I found the best skin care line. I have rosacea which makes my skin ultra sensitive and it gets red and inflamed. It's also oily but gets dried out because of the rosacea. To make matters worse I can't put anything on it because it gets more irritated. In my thirties I started to get those brownish sunspots along my cheekbones and said that's it I need to do something. I tried a moisturizer and mask from a company called Clear Blue Aromatherapy and my skin is completely better. Even the spots faded. I use the moisturizer every day. I can't say enough good things about it. It's all natural and totally affordable. TRY IT NOW!!! You will be so happy you did. My skin is so clear people don't even believe me when I tell them I have rosacea. http://www.clearbluearomatherapy.com/RACday.html

I had the same problem in my early 20's. I kept breaking out and had pink scarring along my jawline. My mom was using the RE9 products from Arbonne and so I gave them a try. It cleared up with in a week and even took care of the pink spots. I tried something cheaper a few years later because of financial issues and my skin instantly started breaking out again. I immediately switched back and haven't had any problems. If you are interested let me know and I can give you the name of the consultant I use. Good Luck!

I also love the RE9 line from Arbonne, but here's another way that I treated my adult zits...acupuncture!

I went to Dr. Steve Homoky (Coit & Spring Creek, ###-###-####), and for the price of a couple of visits, he regulated my hormones with needles only. No drugs, no herbal concoctions, just using the needles to unblock and balance the energy meridians that govern the hormones. Not only did my skin clear up, my PMS went away, too! He does use acupressure too, so if you are needle-phobic, you can go that route, but I have found greater relief from the use of needles. I use his services now for many other things these days, as well...

My skin is still sensitive, but now it's not breaking out due to my cycle. Good luck!

I love Mary Kay... and no I don't sell it, I just use it, I find that sometimes when switching to MK it takes a few days to transition and you might get a break out (while you skin is clearing out all it's built up dirt and grime) but if you continue to use it it works great!!!

bonus, it is fully refundable if it doesn't work out for you!

Hi, J.! This can be so challenging.....and frustrating! I have been selling Mary Kay for 9 years and have two lines of skin care you might want to research via my website at www.marykay.com/tpreston. TimeWise is anti aging - and comes in both normal and oily formulas. We also have acne treatment products. Velocity is our skin care for acne prone teenagers but I have many adults using this product as well. VERY affordable and it's a 3-in-1 cleanser which cleans, masks and tones your skin in one step! $10 for 2-3 months use. A great deal for super looking skin. 100% satisfaction guarantee, free shipping and 20% off your first order! God bless and have a Merry Christmas! T.

Hi J., I went through the exact same story as you, and spent tons of money on tyring different skin care products. You really do have to try a bunch to find the one that works best for your skin. Here is the product that changed my skin www.mysheernaturals.com/fenix

I was so impressed with the Fenix products, I met with the company owner and now carry the line alongside my mineral makeup, which I created for my sensitive skin. I do have tons of customer testimonies for both products if you want to research it further. I hope you can find that perfect skin care that works for you.

I recommend Dermalogica ( I have tried a slew of products and finally settled with this one).

Try the hydrating booster which keeps the skin hydrated without making it oily.

NOTE: I would order them on the web as the product is lot more expensive when you buy it at Salons or Ulta.

Hey, you're reading my mail! I have the same issues! Mid-thirties, light acne that explodes during my period- scars every time (good thing I found a gentle skin lightener!).

I bet you are estrogen dominant like I was. Go to www.johnleemd.com and take their 'test.' It is a series of 6 symptom areas that let you know if you are deficient or excess in progesterone, estrogen, androgens, testosterone, etc. If you are estrogen dominant, the treatment is simple (and has helped my skin so much!). Progesterone cream during the 2nd half of your cycle.

The one I use is from Arbonne International. My endocrinologist likes it because it has a metered pump for even dosing, and the dosing is physiological dose, not pharmacological (too much). I have an endo doc because my thyroid quit after having cancer 9 years ago. Lovely, huh! Makes me very thankful and a true research nerd for the rest of my blessed life!

If you need ordering info (and a discount that makes it more economical than buying at a compound pharmacy), write me back. Progesterone cream, lightening night serum, and a perfect concealer have changed my entire complexion- and self-esteem!

The Best to you this Christmas,
L.

I had been going to dermatologists for years off and on since I was in my teens now in my 30's. When I was pregnant I got really bad acne but did not want to take any of the prescribed drugs. A friend suggested Proactive and now I'm hooked. Unlike the medications I got from my Dr. it does not make my face more oily but actually balances it out. It did take about a week for my face to get use to it but after that I had no more breakouts. They do have a line of moisturizers but I have found you can use any age deifying one you like with the products also.

You could try Body Dynamics. It's done wonders for my skin and you don't have to pay department store prices for a vastly better product.

I've tried other things and paid way more money and always come back to her products.

You could also try NuSkin, they have a galvanic device that gets rid of acne and fine lines. My friend sells it and could give you a free demo. I just bought one last month from her and I already look 5 years younger! Her nephew uses it for his acne after trying everything else.

Check out her website and her story! Now the one thing she added to my skin care is to take "Skin Zinc" (sold by her also). But that has been the biggest change for me. I ran out of the skin zinc and sure enough, problems resurfaced...you just have to try for yourself but I can not say enough about what she and her company have done for me...
