I want to make some treats for my lil girl's Birthday. There is a child that is allergic to nuts and eggs so I needed to see if any other mommies out there have any good ideas on what I could make.
Thanks so much in advance!

Try www.eggless.com....they have all links for all kinds of recipes that don't include eggs...and nuts are usually an optional ingredient so just leave them out of whatever it is you decide to make.

My son has nut and egg allergies and I made his cake for his 2 yr. birthday. He just turned 2 in March. If you look on the allergy website, then you can choose some different recipes. Or you could make cupcakes and substitute veg. oil for the eggs. Unfortunately, you pretty much have to make the cake or the cupcakes from scratch since the boxed stuff contains eggs or egg whites. That's really nice of you to try and accommodate everyone at the party, but I know when I take my son to birthday parties, I usually don't let him eat any of the cake or ice cream. I usually bring something separate for him just because I don't want to take any chances. Hopefully this helps.

I like Kimberly's idea of the pudding cups, but I'd do confetti sprinkles from the cake isle instead of powdererd sugar over the top. It would be more festive!

One of the treats you could make in place of cake, etc. are pudding cups with gummy worms in them with 'dirt'(crushed up oreos) on top.. this is a huge hit here with my family and extended family. For girls, I would do vanilla pudding (or jello) with gummy bears in it, and maybe powdered sugar on top...

I had to prepare cakes without eggs a few times. We replace the eggs with gelatin. 1 gelatin packet for each egg.

And don't put nuts and you should be fine.

Good luck!

Hi, I have a nephew that is now 16 but since a baby has had a lot of food allergies along with other health issues so my sister used to have this same problem and thank goodness that there were other mom's like you who wanted to make sure that he was able to attend the parties and eat without worry. I can't remember exactly how she used to do it but she used to bake her own cakes and cupcake but she used to substitute cream corn (I think) in the batter instead of the eggs or milk. The safest thing to remember also is that when you buy stuff for the party read the ingredients on the packages because a lot of foods contain the stuff that most children with allergies are allergic to. Here's a recipe I found for the cake and the frosting along with a recipe for a hershey's bar that are all milk free, egg free, nut free and soy free:
M, Milk-free; E, Egg-free; W, Wheat-free; P, Peanut-free; S, Soy-free; N, Nut-free

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Double Layer Birthday Cake
M, E, P, S, N
3 cups cake flour
1 3/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups water
1/2 cup shortening
3 T. water, 3 T. oil, 2 tsp. baking powder; mixed together
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two cake pans. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Using an electric mixer, beat until well mixed, approximately 4 minutes. Pour batter into cake pans. Bake 40 to 45 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes before removing to wire racks. Frost when completely cooled.

Note: Baking powder is intentionally listed twice in this recipe. The combination of 3 T. water, 3 T. oil, 2 tsp. baking powder; mixed together is the substitution for 2 eggs.

1/4 cup plus 1 tsp. shortening

2 cups confectioners sugar

Grease 9x9-inch pan. Set aside. In medium bowl, microwave chocolate and shortening on high for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, until mixture is melted and smooth when stirred. Add vanilla extract.
