I have three female family members celebrating their 50th this month, all on the somewhat conservative side. Any ideas for a party or a surprise for them??

What can I do next?

If you wanted to take the Barbie party a little beyond Barbie you could do like what they did in "The Santa Claus" where Tim Allen gave vintage toys...see if you can round up vintage toys from friends and family and have a game night of all the old stuff that isn't so common now (PayDay, Jeopardy, 20,000 Pyramid, Clue, etc.)

If all that is too much hoopla, then I would recommend a nice tasteful party at a local winery...they usually have a nice room that can be set aside and will probably let you bring in a nice and tasteful cake (I'd check with a wedding planner for a nice and pretty cake if you are looking for something outside of the sheet cake box).

My Dad did a surprise birthday party for my mom when she turned 50 and it's something the family STILL talks about (and mom has been dead 11 years). Dad did an old fashioned roast (just like Dean Martin used to do)...he had a head table and had people get up and do toasts, tell funny stories, do slide shows...it was hysterical and a fun time was had by all!

I do pamper parties, with different themes, with Jordan Essential products.

Well I for one am always looking to spice up a party with a theme! ;) The sock hop idea is totally cute...and here's another idea. Barbie also happens to be turning 50 this year...scary isn't it!...so you could do some sort of Barbie theme for grown-ups. You could focus on clothes/fashion, etc. and have pink cocktails and decorate in Barbie if you really wanted. Good luck! If you don't like a theme idea, I would just go with good food, strong drinks, and decadent desserts! You might consider having it catered or renting out a private room in a nice restaurant. I imagine that when I turn 50 I'll need a cocktail or two! ;)
