Was the negative test the first test you took? Maybe you weren't far enough into the pregnancy for the test to pick up the pregnancy hormone. Were the three with the faint line prior to the one that tested postive with the darker line? Again, maybe the pregnancy hormone was barely detected by the test strip. It's not uncommon to spot during the first part of a pregnacy & I've been told it isn't that uncommon to bleed a little as well.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I don't think it's possible to have a false positive on a pregnancy test. But it is possible to have a false negative. If you are bleeding then it is possible you are having a miscarriage. Please go see your Dr. I hope things work out for the best.

If the tests were taken around the same time frame then maybe the one negative just didn't read the pregnancy hormone. However, if you took four that were all positive and then had a negative a week later that's a different story. In that case it could be a chemical pregancy (happens when the egg is fertilized but not successful in implanting). It happened to me but the tests were a week apart. Try not to stress.

It might be a chemical pregnancy. You won't know until you have the blood work. Best wishes.

When I was pregnant with my son, I bled for a week and was pretty sure I was miscarrying -- but I just dropped his 8-year-old grumpy butt off at school this morning -- active and smart. The bleeding may not mean a thing - bleeding can happen at implant. You don't mention any time table for sex or when your period is due, but I'm with Sepi -- never heard of false positives before... Good luck!

False negatives are very common- false positives are not. Either the hormone is there or it isn't!

I don't have the answer just to let you know it is possible to have a false positive. As I did & had to go to the hospital to find out was not pregnant that time. Also with the 2 children I had I had to go to the hospital to find out I was. So it does work both ways.
