I Need Suggestions on How to Cover Acne Spots on Back

I am going to my brothers wedding this weekend, they just decided to get married this month. I have had bad acne on my back for as long as I can remember. I have always been very embarrassed about it. I have gained weight and the only dress I could find that made me feel ok in it was a halter top. Thankfully most of the back is covered, but my shoulders are not.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can cover up the acne spots? Right now they are just red spots because I have been consistent on trying to get rid of them.

Thanks for reading.

I word dermablend. I used to work in cosmetics and that stuff covers like no other. It is wax based so it sits on top of the skin and blends very well:) I think they have a website but you could call bergners or macys to see if they still carry it. Good luck:)

If you have enough time before the wedding...ideally find a local spa and get a back facial to exfoliate the dead skin cells and reduce the inflammation of current breakouts. If you can't get in soon enough try exfoliating the area with a soft bristle brush, not too harshly or your acne will become inflamed again. For at least a week beforehand use an over-the-counter tanning cream (l'oreal works well). This takes quite a few applications to cover the acne scarring/breakouts. If you are still uncomfortable with the outcome try stage makeup as a temporary fix or tatto coverage makeup. You should be able to find this at a good costume shop. Depending on where you live, I am an esthetician at Woman to Woman Med Spa in Crystal Lake and we do back facials. Good luck!

A little tan helps too. Over the years I have done spray tan, home self tan, and even the dreaded tanning bed. The red spots don't show up as much if you have a little color.

The condition of my back has influenced what I've worn my entire life. Good luck and enjoy the wedding.

I have leg makeup I use on my legs to cover veins, etc. I bet it would work great on your back. It doesn't rub off until you wash it off. It won't totally hide them, but will lighten them up so you can't see them. Also, at Famous Barr they have this makeup that totally covers scars. I think it's called dermablend. Of course, you would need a hubby or girlfriend to help you apply it.

I've had acne about 1/3 of my life and know what you are going through. I use a bronzing powder that makes your skin darker (not a fan of spraying stuff on my body as what we put on our skin goes directly into our bloodstream!). I also use a body mask that is GREAT for any area of the body that needs to get the oil unclogged from the pores. That is what is part of the problem and I'd be happy to share what I use. I truly believe that the products you use will either help or hurt you so be wary of anything with mineral oil in it as it will clog your pores and make you break out more! Have fun....

I know this won't help for this weekend, but I use Nature's Cure Body Acne Treatment Spray. It's very inexpensive, easy to apply and dries quickly and definitely helps! I order two bottles at a time from drugstore.com. Good luck and have fun at the wedding!

There is a product by Jane Iredale I think it is called Disappear . I think C.O. Bigelow carries some of their products. My friend uses Benefit Boi-ing (can find at Macy's).
She uses Boi-ing to completely cover her Rosacia.
Good luck -

I second the dermablend, it can be found at most major department stores. But, also thought you might want to know that most people DO have back acne. You do not have to cover it up, I swear no one is going to be offended if you don't! Sometimes when I am feeling uncomfortable about wearing something that is going to reveal it, I just put on a wrap or big pretty scarf over my back and shoulders. It keeps the chill off, hides my discomfort and looks beautiful!
Have fun!
