If you are looking for a private tutor near the Houston area, you might try contacting the AWTY school. They have a dual program as an international school w/ French as the second language. www.awty.org

Good luck!

Hi again, J.,
My recommendation of Coloquia Language Arts applies also to your requirement for a French tutor. Ask Ale about teachers for young children... I am not sure how young her youngest students are...

Hi,

My daughter is 22 month old and she goes to La Maternelle. It's a French daycare.

I don't know what area you are looking for. Here in Pearland there is a wonderful place called A Brain in the Box. At least I think that how it's phrased. Could be The brain outside the box. This lady does teach from the littlest kids on up. Her child and my child were on the same baseball team last year.

She teaches French,Spainsh,Chinese and I think German. If she doesnt teach at a young age she can refer you to someone.ASk for Ms.T when you call.

Good luck,

Wow! My son is almost 16 mos & barely says anything in English! :) But, he goes to a Jewish school (my hubby is Jewish) & they speak Hebrew there & though he hasn't spoken any Hebrew words, he does understand some because we also use them at home. At this age I think a good thing to do is speak the languages you want him to speak in your home. Or if you have a nanny that speaks French, that would be very helpful too, but for additional help I would try Lakeshore Learning Center on Post Oak by the Galleria. It's a store but they may have some great tools to help him & more importantly they may have information on a private French tutor! My son goes to a nursery school for 3 hours 3 days a week & they have a speech therapist there. Maybe you could contact a speech therapist & get a referral to a French tutor. I think it is SO cool that you are doing this with your son at an early age! They say this is the best time to learn language!! :) bravo to you!!!
