how far along do you have to be, before you can see the baby moving around, inside of you, from the outside of your stomach?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

thank you all for being so helpful. The pregnant woman says she is 31 weeks but is very big and measuring at 36 cm. She we have seen the baby move from the outside for about a month now. Just wondering if she could be further along than 31 weeks. She is scheduled for another ultra sound on Tuesday. I hope she makes it to this one.

I could see mine move on the outside at about 22 weeks but I am having twins so it could take longer for one baby to be that stressed for room.

I am 29 weeks pregnant, original due date Aug 25th, and I can see my little girl kick from the outside sometimes. It has been happening about 2-3 weeks and getting more frequent as she gets stronger. Due to special circumstances, it is estimated that I will deliver sometime in July( we are praying to make it to July) so we should get together when Sophia joins you. My little girl will be Aubree Grace.

With my daughter, she was a big baby and I could see her moving as early as 5 moths. My son on the other hand was average sized and I never saw him moving. It also depends on how big you are. With my daughter, I was fairly in shape, but I got pregnant with my son when she was only 15 months so I had not lost all the weight. Plus I gained 85 pounds with her, so I had extra "jiggle" hiding his movements

First of all Congratulations on your new addition! It's wonderful when a family is able to adopt. About your question, it seems that you have a lot of great advice already that I can only agree with. I am pregnant with my second and the external kicks started about my fifth month then the alien morphing (belly moving when the baby kicks and seeing limbs) started about my seventh month. I am almost 27 weeks and I just saw a but stick out for the first time lastnight, so it does vary but usually in the latter months will you start to SEE the baby moving. It's a lot of fun and very exciting. Also, if you or someone you know always has cold hands and tries to touch the stomach, it may make the baby more or less active. My son hated it when my mother would touch my stomach because she always has cold hands, so he would start acting like a bucking mule. But with this one, there's not a whole lot of performance for others. Hope you have a wonderful time with your new angel.

What a wonderful person you are to adopt! I am on my 2nd pregnancy and with this one, I could see him and feel him doing flips (or whatever he was doing in there LOL) around 25-28 wks. Hiccups though, I could see around 23-25 wks. My first son, I think I was exactly 28 weeks when he did a real hard kick that was quite noticable. I agree with the previous posts too that it may depend on how thin the pregnant woman is before pregnancy and how much she gains durning. Congradulations and I hope everything goes well with the birth!!!!

I agree with the later part in pregnancy with my son sean I was close to 28 weeks when I could see an elbow or kneee moving across my belly. I can't wait with this baby either, I'm 18 weeks so far. Congrats on your new addition to your family!

I think it varies from each woman/baby. I would say late 2nd trimester or early third at best.

I think that all depends on how thin you are and how much weight you gain throughout the pregnancy!!! Pre pregnancy I'm an average weight, but when I get pregnant I really pack on the pounds! We could always see movements on the outside around the 7th month, but most definitely in the 8th month. My sister-in-law who is really thin and has hardly gained any weight at all, could see movement like that from the 6th or 7th month as well. I guess as soon as the baby gets a little bigger, they don't have as much room and wherever they kick you will get quite a show. I hope that helped a little.

i really think it must have been around 6 or 7 months cause i never made it full term. but it always seemed to be at the oddest times when the baby moved like when i tried to balance a value meal on my tummy!:) but i think by the 7th month you should start seeing it from the out side!!

Around 16-18 weeks you can start to very lightly feel kicks. Then I would say about the last 10 weeks you can REALLY feel things like a foot in the rib cage etc. Good luck with the adoption.

I have 4 kids, seems like I remember it being pretty late for all the crazy feet and limbs moving across my stomach. Earliest maybe 6 (especially if the Pregnant one is thin), but for sure all late months....7,8, and 9. Congratualtions on your future addition! How exciting for your new little family!

I'd say for most women it would be about 20 weeks but it depends on your body type. Over weight women take longer and really skinny women can feel their babies earlier.

I didn't see our baby moving until some time during the sixth month of pregnancy. I have heard that others see them earlier, but that was my experience. Now, at eight months, my husband can really see her go like wild fire!
