I Love Eating a Curry, but I Don't like the Aftermath

Ladies -

Without going into too much detail, I love eating a tasty curry, but find that I suffer the consequences, with gas pains, loud wind, belching, upset stomach, and eventually a sore and tender bottom. I took pepto, and TUMS, but they didn't help.

they say a crazy person does the same thing expecting different results. Any tips on how I can better handle the aftermath of a good curry? otherwise, cost benefit suggests that perhaps I give it up altogether.

What can I do next?

"loud wind" - That made me laugh out loud!

There are certain things I can't eat since I had my gallbladder our. The #1 thing is pancakes with syrup. LOVE THEM. Can't eat them anymore. I will be on the pot all day long. It's horrible. So, I gave them up. It's too uncomfortable to me to be doing that all day. You may have to give up curry. Sorry!

I have always wondered what the guy from Man vs. Food does after he eats all those spicy, spicy dishes - YIKES!
If it were me, I might check out the MVF blog and ask a seasoned veteran (no pun intended).
Also the Thai tea helps me quite a bit with the "bottom" issue;)

Drink a shot of buttermilk and/or eat yogurt (the plainer the better). They will soothe the stomach and are good for digestion.

As silly as it might seem, I usually drink a good Thai tea with my curry. The coconut milk seems to help a bit.

Perhaps consider taking the pepto and tums before the meal? ;o)

Maybe try something like a stomach acid blocker, like Pepcid or Zantac before eating the curry. And maybe something like Beano for the gas.
