I Have to Go Back to Work - like Right Now

Ugh, I came home for lunch - huge mistake - but I have an uber headache and had already maxed out on ibuprofen and tylenol for the day. I thought coming home would help. Now I want to curl up on the sofa.

So I am dragging myself back to the office. And begging you Moms, and Dads, for encouraing words to get me through the afternoon.

Oh, a question - how do you motivate yourself to keep going when your head hurts and your sofa is beckoning?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I am at the office - I believe it is a migraine not just a headache, as the nausea is setting in. :(
Sorry, I just sooooo need to whine.

Had some Arizona Green Tea - too much caffeine, as I drink none, becomes counter-productive because it keeps awake. I see a migraine pill in my future when I get home, and a pizza for dinner for my son.

Geesh, when I have headaches they're usually migraine level and I'm no good to no one. Usually a little caffeine helps my headaches, but that's only sometimes. At least you have a job to back to! Imagine having a headache with no job...that's a headache within itself.

Ugh, headaches are the worst. It's Friday, is it your Friday?? Try to get one thing done at a time at work. Take plenty of mini-breaks by slowly walking to the bathroom and water fountain :P To mentally get me through a headache at work, I'd always think about my next paycheck and what treat I could buy myself with it. Paycheck was thee motivator for me to get through any day. Hang in there, you're over half way done with the day!!

Next time try taking some Asprin for your headache. It's a small dose but it really does help! I do this and it takes away my headache faster than tylenol or Ibuprofen does.

Get a big coffee and tell yourself its Friyay and that you only have X amount of time before you can return to your glorious couch, or bed for the weekend.

Just focus on the good that will happen after work and hopefully it will get you through.

Hope you feel better soon!

I promise myself a glass of wine or a whiskey sour and order pizza, or have a "fun" picnic(and unhealthy) dinner of popcorn and ice cream maybe with some hotdogs!

Drink something with caffeine, to get rid of headache.

You may probably be getting sick, or it is a PMS hormonal headache?

Once you go back to work, maybe the Boss will notice you are not well.... and send you home.
If you act sick, that is.
LOL

Roll your shoulders around, do some gentle neck stretching, loosen your jaw and face mucscles, think happy thoughts, and see if a nice co-worker will give you a relaxing neck massage. Good luck getting through your day--nothing worse than a horrible headache!

If you have already taken as much medicine as you can then it is obviously not the right medicine.

It's time to go to the doc and have a discussion about headaches and the pain levels. There are many things that cause headaches. The lighting in your work space, the dimness, the brightness, if the lights are fluorescent, the heat or coolness of the area, how you sit in your chair, if you have to lean over constantly due to writing or typing, seeing the monitor, etc....

There is also the possibility of it being a migraine. Try putting your hands in really warm water for at least 5 minutes, as hot as you can stand without it being uncomfortable. Does that help the head ache pain? If it does then this might be a migraine. The vessels in the head constrict and the blood pumping through them hurts them, the volume of blood is too much, if the blood is drawn out, to a warmer area for instance, the blood circulating in the vessels of the brain is less and the pain decreases.

If the heat trick does not work then think about your sinus'. Are they dry? Runny? Stuffy? Then the pain could be a sinus headache.

I would want to find out if there was a different pain med that would help the headaches if at all possible.
