I Have PMDD and I Hate EVERYTHING.

Moms,

I've asked before, but I need help. My PMDD symptoms are awful. I've tried zoloft and although I did feel better, I can't live with the side effects. I can't take birth control or hormones because of the risk of blood clots.

I'm going to call the doctor again but please tell me there is relief out there somewhere! I'm at the end of my rope with this helpless, sad, horrible feeling, every single month. I can't take it any more and I'm sure my husband is tired of it also.

What can I do next?

I took Effexor XR and had relief in two weeks. I thought the Paxil had worked for a time, but once I tried Effexor I realized it really worked.
There is hope. I have found professional counseling helps too.

How much attention do you actually pay to your body? What things do you eat that may be contributing to worsen your PMDD symptoms? Do you exercise regularly?

What things do you choose to think on? How can you recondition the way you think or does your current thought life rule you?

I would take a look at all of these things and find combinations that would work for me to change how I think and how I am physically feeling. I used to have really bad PMS but with a decreased intake of processed sugars and cutting out of the salt and a regular exercise regimine. I have had a turn around but when I fall off so does my turn around. It also helps me to just be away of my frame of mind and speak and believe positive things for my mental, physical and emotional state.

Meditating on the Word of God helps me everyday. It is life for me.

If it were me I would go to a good integrative physician and get all my hormones checked (among other things).

I very much dislike masking symptoms with RX (though sometimes RX is necessary). That seems to be the modus operandi of mainstream medicine.

Though I haven't had PMDD, I have had rough cycles from an emotional standpoint. What really helps me is being very diligent with a high quality B-Complex, EFA's (essential fatty acids) and sometimes 5-HTP. That being said, a good integrative MD will need to give you dosages and recommendations based on your specific labs, profile, health, etc..

IMHO these types of feelings are not normal and they are our body's way of telling us that something is "off." Our planet has become so toxic that it is a miracle more of us aren't extremely ill.

That's JMO - I'm not a health are provider of any type. Please get competent, professional help. I hope you can find some resolution to this issue.

Try going to a Naturopath or Holistic Doctor.

I have PMS. Typical: irritable, mega grumpy etc.
It is cyclical. Thus, that is the symptom of it. For me.
It is cyclical in pattern.

I take "Vitex". (also called "Chasteberry.")If you read about it online, it helps many women with PMS.
It balances the hormones.
But read about it yourself.
It helps me and has lessened my PMS symptoms.
Whole Foods and other natural food stores have it.

Google search PMDD or PMS. And yes, it is a negative thing, and for those around women who have it. It can strain relationships.
But it is hard, because it is a HORMONE based, ailment.

Calcium and vitamin B also helps.

different anti-depressants have varying negative side effects. However, thats an annoying process to go through. Avoiding certain foods can help, evening primrose oil, and omega 3's. Exercise too, but thats not always an easy task. I get vicious PMS, not sure if it would fall into this disorder, but most likely. I hate feeling that way & try to change my moods by hot baths (sometimes a few in one day) getting out for a drive & a coffee (tho coffee is likely not good for it) reading a good book... dark chocolate if you like it.

I'll bet your OB/GYN can try something else besides zoloft. Ask him/her! You don't need to suffer like that! Good luck.

Do you think it could maybe be your environment? I had an ex boyfriend that swore I had PMDD (we had a very stressful relationship, I felt more like a babysitter) it was really just being with him and all of the surroundings. My husband who is a wonderful man and awesome husband says he can never tell when it's my time because I don't have any signs at all that other women show.

The difference in the relationships between the two of them is night and day and I am not stressed out one bit with my husband.

I'm not suggesting your husband is the problem, but maybe your stressed at work or don't like where you live or a stressful friendship. Environment can be a factor in so many things. Try to find a creek somewhere and sit and enjoy nature and the sound of the water running through the rocks. This helped me a lot and it was so relaxing.

Good luck to you, it's sounds miserable for you.

Just be glad that its only for once a month for a short period of time. I feel like that all the time and on all kinds of meds. Sometimes I don't know which is worse meds and side effects or the horrible mood swings.
