So, I personally did not make hardly anything this past year, I did file my taxes and claimed one child as a dependant, I don't think that I would get a check, because I didn't make over 3,000 last year(may return was a whopping 9.00). I Have been reading all kinds of things. I don't expect a check, but I have heard so many things. I have heard ALL americans, I have heard children get one? I think this is just very confusing and we shouldn't count our chickens.... Any one else confused or enlighted by the subject please let me know.

What can I do next?

If you go to irs.gov there is a calculator and a schedule of when you can expect the deposit by. However, the news said they were starting the payments early. So if you get one it should be earlier than what the schedule shows.

I know that you didnt have to work to get one but you had to not owe anything to the gov'mt still. So if you did taxes and you dont still owe anything you will get something. Now i was under the impression and this is where I get confused of two things..1. ALL rebates done DD would be out by friday no matter the last two of you SSN, but I have since learned that this was misguided info from the media. That they were still doing DD in waves by your last two SSN digits. @. I was under the imperssion the you got 600 per single or 1200 per couple and 300 hundred for every dependant under 17 up to a total of 3000. But then i read that it is all baased off of what you made last year and how mauch you paid into taxes and you were not graunteed(?) the full amount. I think they screwed up by talking to much about it ahead of time to the point where it is now so confusing and all websites i have been on have conflicting info even the IRS website has conflicting info on it from what the gov'mt has said on news reports. At this point I will believe it when I see it and If i do get what i think we should be getting back i will just cry. I just think this is another one of bushes sad attempts to make up for two crappy terms in office and it has failed once again. Sorry for those of you who support or commander in chief but for a guy who has made our country so broke and has pretty much squeezed every dime out of the people who need them the most i think even the rebates arent going to be enough to save this country!! Better luck next time I guess!! I am done now sorry if i have offended anyone. they are just my personal feelings.

I asked my accountant what my check would be. He was able to give me an answer. Also my credit union told me by what date I should expect the check deposited to my account. I figured it would be deposited into my account since, in the past, that was how I received refunds. (The credit union knew the exact date according to the last four of my ss#.) Otherwise, if you get a check in the mail, I believe the accountant knew the date of when to expect that as well. We owed quite a bit of money this year, but we have already sent the checks and the government has already cashed them, so I am not concerned about getting my refund. Of course, I'm sure that is why people are required to have filed a return. If you haven't filed a return, no stimulas check. Another thing the accountant told me was that it was $600 refund for each adult and $300 for each child, so our total was $1800. These were the figures for our family, but it definitely varies according to your income; and there is a maximum amount. I don't remember what that was. Hope that helps some

It is confusing, many people will recieve payments, but not all. Adult's get the rebate if they've made over a certain amount. Children only get the rebate if thier parents got a rebate and if they meet other qualifications. If you:
1. go to www.irs.gov
2. click on the link for questions about the rebate
3. Scroll down to "economic stimulus payment calculator" and click on the link to "calculator"

then you will be able to enter information in to find out how big your rebate should be.

Good Luck!

Hello E.,
From what i understand the payment is for anyone who filed taxes . The lady i take care of gets social security and she was able to file for the stimulus. If what i have heard is correct single is 600.00, married is 1200.00 and each child is 300.00. I am not positive if you had to make a certain amount to qualify. I hope this helped you alittle. Take care.

You can calculate how much to expect (or not to expect) by entering information about your filing status (married or single head of household, number of dependents, etc.) and actual earnings numbers at http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/ . You will need figures from your tax return to do this accurately.

The stimulus package is designed to go to taxpayers, and is based on how much you earned and how much of that you paid in taxes. So people who had little or no taxable income, and who paid little or no taxes, do not qualify. The package is not considered to be a tax refund, but it is sometimes described as a tax-relief measure. It is not intended to be a handout to all citizens based on need.

My household qualifies for only a very small payment, because our income and taxes are both low. This seems fair to me, based on the definition of the stimulus package. I am neither surprised nor disappointed, even though I could really use more money.

By the way, some people who don't qualify on last year's income might still be able to get a one-time payment next year, if and when they file their tax return, if they end up earning more and paying more in taxes this year. So a woman who goes back to work after taking a year off with a new baby, or caring for aging parents, or recovering from a medical situation, might still get a stimulus payment next year.
