I Hate Being So Curvy

I am in need of jeans and I am having a heck of a time finding some that fit. I am tall and curvy, yes I could stand to shed about 20lbs but I still have the same problem. I have thick thighs a small waist and hips. Its my damn thighs that get me into trouble and the funny thing is when I was thinner the waist would be too big and if I work out my legs they dont slim down they get BIGGER!! And the stuff they have on the market is for slim, skinny no butt girls/women. Why dont they make jeans for real women or thick women lol. I am so fusterated I have been looking online and apparently there are no tall curvy 16+ women, bc all the jeans for the + size are for average length. I have bought jeans from Lane bryant but they tend to be to big in the waist to accomidate my thighs. and the Levis shop online yeah right. I guess I am doomed to wear short pants, lol. Where do you get your curvy jeans? And I am looking for the 16+ women out there my size 14 have been givin to good will years ago.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your input. I will be returning the jeans I ordered and hubby wants to take me to Eddie Bauer (sp) on Friday. I sooooo hope they have some sizes for me. I used to buy them when I was a 12/14 and they always fit so well and long enough too. If not I plan on forking out some dough and trying some of the more $$$ jeans. Thanks again.

Brook W- I ment no offense, but most of the stuff out there is for the more slender women, men too. Hubby has a hell of a time also, bc the market is flooded with the hip hugging skinny thigh stuff. By real women I mean the not victoria secret models type. Most of the female population is more on the roomy cushy side as my hubby says more cushion for the pushin' lol. And I am not just talking about the slimmer women, shorter women have more out there too. for length I mean.

I love Old Navy's Sweetheart Cut. I have a relatively small waist but larger thighs and they do well. The best pair I ever bought was the boyfriend cut at the Gap, got a great deal right after I had my daughter. I love them.

I can sometimes find some good fitting ones at Fashion Bug, Dots, Deb's, Old Navy. I can't guarantee to find what I want/need at each place every time, but between the 4 I can find stuff. For the record, I wear a sz 16-18 waist, have thick thighs, and have a 32" inseam so yea, I sympathize with you. Honestly though, some of the most comfortable ones I've found were from Goodwill, I think because the thigh parts were already broken in so fit more comfortable to wear.

I don't have any advice for you but just want to tell you that I think curvy women are beautiful!! I don't have much curvy voluptuousness (I think I made up that word)...wish I could steal some from you!! Embrace those curves!! Have fun shopping with your hubby and good luck finding some cozy jeans!! (I am sure your hubby loves your curves!!)

Good luck and best wishes!

K.,

Head to Torrid or Lane Bryant and get some jeans that will fit your body perfectly. I know its hard being curvy sometimes, but it really is a blessing too-- men love it and you should embrace yourself as you are!

How long is your inseam? 35" or more? (most pants in the following link are either 36" inseam or 38" inseam) http://www.longtallsally.com/ sizes 8-22 It's a UK company, so be sure to switch the currency from pounds to dollars!

I'm tall (6'1, 37" inseam... HA! I look at "talls" at gap and eddie bauer and etc. that have "tall" at 33" and just roll my eyes. That's 4" of bare leg left! Otherwise known as: Capris. "Real" capris hit my knees.)... but I'm mostly curvy when I'm thin (my hips NEVER go below a size 12 -I know, because when you can see the actual socket -yes, I've been that "thin", too weak to lift 20lbs... that's what size fit. I'm also a 12 when I weigh 60lbs more and am in a bikini!). Of course, those days are long gone. I'm 16/18 right now.

Anyhow when I was that curvy (36-24-36dddd) I just bought for my largest part and paid $10 to have the waist nipped in.

AND before I found UK clothing stores (gotta love manufacturers that deal with Scandinavians!!!), I also sewed on contrasting bands of fabric on the bottom of my shirts and bottoms of my pants. SO glad not to have to do that anymore!!!

a tailor can take in the waist of any pair of jeans you have. Just buy them to fit your bottom/thighs and get the waist tailored!

i know you already have a game plan, but i just love fashion bug. they have three different styles of jeans (last week they were on sale for $20, not sure if they still are) and the curvy ones fit me great - the "straight" ones, i would have to go up like 2 sizes. i am all hips and stomach (NO BUTT booo!) but they work great for me. the curvy ones are a red tag, there are blue and yellow STAY AWAY from them! lol! hope you find something!

Have you tried Chicos? I'm not tall or curvy but I noticed that they have larger sizes and tall short or medium lengths for most sizes. Plus, they add a little stretch to their denim so they fit the curves I do have.

They are expensive so one or two "investment" pair is what I would suggest but my friend who has the same problem buys LUCKY brand jeans .... they are at least 100/pair but you can find them for less sometimes if you look. Lane Bryant brand they are pretty good on their different fits but you have to have assistance from the girls they know what works better for your body. Oh and I like the jeans at Torrid too! They have xtra tall... I am a 26 right now (down 25lbs yeah!) with a 36" inseam. Honestly you just have to try a ton of pairs out there. Often the jeans that have a "V" in the back of the waist will fit the waist better they are made to not "show off" your undies.

I am curvy too and to buy jeans that fit my butt means having the waist gap. I am 5'9" and have trouble finding jeans long enough also. I really have had luck with Calvin Kleins and recently found a GAP pair that fit well too. I have luck with dress pants from NY and Company in a tall length but the jeans in tall are too long because I am not wearing heels. Buying jeans is not a project I enjoy! Good luck to you!

I am not curvy--I look more like Sponge-Bob Squarepants right now--no curves at all . . .

However, in college I lifted weights a lot and had a bubble butt and pretty huge thighs. The best thing I ever did was by some good quality jeans (I think they were Ralph Lauren) and have the waist taken in by a seamstress. They were perfect!! I think it was $10 to get them altered--so worth the money.

Good luck to you!! Jeans suck!

If you find somewhere I have to tell my mom! She has the SAME problem, looks like she's always ready for a flood!! I know that doesn't help you but I feel for you and good luck!! Try looking up boyfriend fits! They have more relaxed legs with the waist the appropriate size, they may fit your thighs tighter than meant but they should still work! I want to say my mom found ONE pair at Victoria's Secret!

As they say on What Not To Wear, it is better to get the pants that fit your thighs and spend a few bucks to have the waist taken in, than to be frustrated and unhappy about it......

IM 5ft10 and a 14/16. Im about 41 inches from hip to ankle I get my jeans from Torrid. Few from Lane Bryant because they have those shape indicators like red yellow and blue for bigger hips or biggest waist or whatever. But they never have tall. I love torrid and they come in tall IN THE STORE! Not just online. They have all kinds too. Skinny, boot cut, flare etc. black, light blue dark blue. and many times they have denim sales.

I an 5'10 and totally understand what you mean. I just found womanwithin.com they have great jeans that really fit and I do not have to worry about high water and they are at great prices. I have even found myself walking on the bottoms of them at times. They have several different types and hold their length and size. They have a great return policy too.

If you find jeans you like evey where but the waste, take them to a taylor and have the waste altered to fit you. It could be cheaper then buying the $$$ jeans. I have lost weight but still like the straight leg cuts. No sinny jeans or bootcut fr me. They over accentuate the thigh! I did fin liz claborne (sp?) At jc penney that are a nice fit. Not sure what size they go to. They had lee jeans that had a higher waste in the back that was nice. The liz c's flattered m more so I went with those but I would try both. :-)

I feel your pain. I may not be that tall but i remember when younger having that little waist with hips that were at least 14 to 16 wider than the waist (22) at the time. In those days I learned how to really sew and make my own and still do.

Go and spend the money on a couple of good pairs of jeans and have them altered to fit your waist. You will be much happier knowing that they fit you and that they don't hang off your hips when you really want them to fit around your waist.

Be careful on Black Friday with everybody running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

The other S.

PS I still have issues about pants and am older.
