I Don't 'Feel' pregnant...anyone Else?

I am almost 18 weeks along and I just don't 'feel' pregnant! I haven't really started showing yet...I just look a little chunky. I didn't really show with my first until about 7 months! I'm done with morning sickness, so I don't have that to go on right now! I haven't felt him/her move yet...which I know usually happens between 18 and 22 weeks. I have heard the heartbeat at both doctor appointments. I have read that women go thru a phase of not believing they are pregnant! I just don't like it and would like to know if other moms have gone thru this!

What can I do next?

Thank the Lord that someone posted this! I was beginning to feel like a real heel. I almost feel indifferent. (Though we tried for a year & I really want this!) Now that it's happening, I'm confused. I'm going through the motions, even talking like I'm "supposed" to be about the baby, but my personal thoughts are way different than what's on the outside.
Thanks for the honesty. I thought I was alone.

I felt this way with my son. I had a textbook perfect pregnancy with him. Aside from the initial cramping of my uterus and abdominal muscles stretching, I had no morning sickness, passed all tests with flying colors, gained minimal weight, generally just felt really good, etc. He was indeed there and at around 20 weeks or so started feeling those first fluttery kicks. My daughter was a different story. I was sicker than a dog for 5 months with my little lady, but both babies are smart, healthy and beautiful today! Try to relax and enjoy how great you feel! Congrats and God Bless!

I looked forward to all my dr.'s appts. with my son for this reason so that I could hear the heartbeat! I never "felt pregnant" with him until I got so big I had no choice :). I would say enjoy it for now until he or she is up under your ribs etc. God bless!

I had a similar feeling all the way till I started feeling him move. I didn't have any morning sickness the whole time and I didn't really show till about 20 weeks. I still had a tiny bump up to that point, then I ballooned all of a sudden. So ya, I understand. I think once you start feeling them move, it'll be different cause you'll have that constant reminder that they're in there. I used to hate it when he got TOO lazy in the womb cause I always loved his little responses to me throughout the day

I'm the same way right now. I'm 15 weeks pregnant with my second. I've been able to feel him/her move every now and then since about 12 weeks. I've had two ultrasounds and heard the heartbeat once. I had pretty bad morning sickness, but it seems to be fading this week. Yet it still hasn't totally sunk in that I'm pregnant right now! I'm already showing, and I'm mostly wearing maternity clothes. The rest of my body is slimming right now while my belly grows (I've lost about 10 lbs :( ).

I think it has to do with caring for the older child, and usually your life is more busy (at least mine is) so it doesn't sink in until later for some women.

It really feels surreal to me right now. I have my ultrasound on May 7th, so I'm hoping that maybe once I find out the gender (hopefully), it'll sink in that I'm actually pregnant!

It's not fun, so hopefully we can both get through this soon!

I was this way with my first child. I thinkI took about 5 home pregnancy tests AFTER i had it confirmed at the Dr. I don't know why this happens, but I counted my blessings that I was not sick with morning sickness, like some of my friends have been.

Wishing you an easy pregnancy and delivery!

Yep I did go through denial. Until he started doing the wiggly crazy man dance in my belly and my running speeds started slowing down....well, and I saw him on the 20 week U/S -- and this is my third :) I didn't really start feeling pregnant till maybe 24 or 28 weeks -- I know, crazy right! I think I am still in denial (and I am 35 weeks) -- all the changes we will be going through AGAIN and so soon! ha!

Yes, very common feeling at this stage. I experienced it with all 3 of mine. Best wishes for a healthy baby. R.
