I need to find a PEDs dentist in my area. I really want a Dentist that only see's peds patients. My son will be 3 in Oct. and the reason why I am looking now for a Dentist is bc I have been told by all the dentist (adult/childrens)that I contacted they wouldnt see him until he was 3 or almost 3. And now it looks like he may have a cavatiy and I am freaking out about it. I brush his teeth and have since he was 4 months old (brushed his gums) Anyway, I am ticked to say the least. bc I have heard my friends talk about taking their kids to the dentist long before this time (they all live out of town) SO IF ANY MOMMYS THAT KNOW OF A GREAT PEDS DENTIST PLEASE LET ME KNOW..

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, today was my oldest sons first trip to the dentist. He did really good. I told him that we were going to get pictures of his teeth ( I talked about it the entire week prior to our visit) I took my camera and starting taking pictures from the moment we got there. He did cry for minute when the dentist came in but then he calmed down. THE DENTIST WAS GREAT!!!! Dr. Jeff at Perferrd Dental in East Pointe. I was nervous about taking him there bc they aren't strickly for peds. but I was way impressed!! Thank you all for your input.

I have a referal for you. This is a family dentist, not just a pediatric dentist and I will tell you why I'm referring them. When my son was little he had a cavatiy and I took him to pediactric dentists. The first one he freaked out (that was just to get his teeth cleaned and they found the cavatiy)...the second one (tried another pediatric dentist because he freaked out so bad the first time) he freaked out again and we had to leave. They prescribed a sedative so I could come back and get his cavity taken care of. So one day my boss referred his dentist to me (for myself and my son) and we went. My son LOVED it there. They are the coolest people. I never had a problem since. It's Dr. Retford. He is located at the corner of Schoenherr and Common. ###-###-####. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend them. I will NEVER go anywhere else.

I don't know about pediatric dentists in the area, but my dentist office is incredibly family friendly. It's Gentle Dental in Roseville - at Little Mack & Martin. They absolutely encourage you to have your child come in and watch you have your teeth cleaned before coming in themselves for the first time - the hygenists are fantastic with the kids, talk to the kids like kids, etc. (They said they were going to clean off all the "sugar bugs" and the thing that sucks the water out of the mouth is "Mr. Thirsty"). My son wemt to the dentist for the first time at 3 also - anything before that and (1) they really won't remember it and (2) they aren't mentally ready. Good Luck!

I take my grandkids to Preferred Dental which is on 10 Mile and Kelly in Eastpointe. They have both pedicatric and adult dentists, and the waiting area is divided into those 2 areas. I've liked them very much.
