I Am Currently on Birth Control.....

I am currently on birth control. Recently, I have not been feeling well. As I explained my symptoms to a friend, she mentioned that I might be pregnant. My question is this..... While taking birth control, there is the week of your "period" (I usually don't get one) that you don't take any horomone containing pills. Is it possible to get pregnant during this time? And what are the risks of getting pregnant on the pill period?

What can I do next?

I was on birth control as well with my 1st daughter and had my period like I was supposed to with the little green pills… I took the pill at the same time everyday because I read the leaflet that came with them and it said that it works better and is more effective… Blah blah blah… needless to say I did not find out I was pregnant until I was 17 weeks along!!! So to some it up yes you can get pregnant on every form of birth control out there except abstinence.

I got pregnant while on the BCP. I was on antibiotics, which greatly reduces the effectiveness of the BCP. Also something that is seldom told to people is that smoking also reduces the effectiveness of the pill from about 99% to 40-50%, they tell you not to smoke because of blood clots, but they don't tell you that it makes taking the pill practically useless. There are a number of other medications that affect how well the pill works, so if you were taking any medication, you should definately check out he possibility that you could be pregnant.

I was on birth control when I got pregnant with my first child. I did not miss pills and I took mine at the same time everyday. I was on the depo shot when I later got pregnant with my 2nd son.. I am not sure what the statistics are but the pill is suppossed to me 99% effective. Just to be safe get a home pregnancy test or even have your doctor give u one. It never hurts. And usually you can not get pregnant during the week you are taking the dummy pill.

It's possible ... Happened to me. I got pregnant on the pill after my first child, I had my period and then when it was time to take my first pill out of my new pack on monday I missed and doubled up on wednesday. I used to be fine when I did it before but I guess your body changes after you have one child ... Good Luck

I am the mother of four lovely children......two of whom were born while I was under the influence of the almighty birth control pill! Although the pill is suppose to be "the great form of birth control" it is only 99.9% effective. I would suggest taking a home test (although with my oldest I had home test come back as negative until I was 5 months along) if you are still unsure I would make an appointment with your OBGYN just to make certain. Good luck!

Several chemical imbalances can have symptoms just like a pregnancy so it's better to get things checked out now.

I was on the pill and concieved 3 of my 13 pregnancies, I had one depo conception, and one bc shot conception, 2 condom conceptions and one post vastectomy conception so not all of the methods are foolproof.

M. C, I suggest you go see your doctor as soon as possible and stop taking your birth control pills in the meantime. I got pregnant when I was on birth control when I didn't have a period during the week I should have, I immediately called my doctor. It is possible to still pregnant while on birth control, nothing is 100% foul safe unless you use both a condom and birth control pills.

How long have you been taking the BCP's?? IT is possible you were PG before you too them.. I am sure the DR that gave them to you would of waited till you had a period and givin you a PG test but still who knows.... YOU Can have a period when PG I had mine with my first for about 4 or 5 months.. They were Lighter but I did have them...

Have you been having yours with the Pill's????

Have you taken a test?? IF not just go to the dollar store they have some Home PG test you can take.. They are Good lots of the fertilitly page use them!!! Anyway use your first morning Pee to test with ok!!

IF it comes back Neg I would say Call dr... Maybe the dose is too much for you.. Some people cant take a REGULAR dose of the PILL.. My sister cant.. she is on like the LOWEST LOW dose of the Pill.... IT reallllly effects her.... She had taken like 3 different kinds before they just said OK.. NONE will work for you....

Maybe you will not be able to use the pill... And it could just be you are getting the flu.. DID You get a flu shot maybe around that time.. They do lenger in your body... IT is that time of year....

COULD be many things...

but they way the pill'[s work MOST only Ovulate 1 time a month.. YOU Might ovulate 2 times a month.. I have a friend who ovulates 2 times a month and my other best friend.. her mom did.. that is how she got PG with my best friend and her twin BROTHER!!! hehehehe THE BROTHER Is the younger of the 2 heeheheh IT is a hoot!!!!

Hi M.!
For sure get a pregnancy test, even if it isn't positive, and you know for sure you aren't pregnant, you may want to try going a week or so with out birth control (unless its a IUD).It could just be the side effects of the B.C. Birth control, (more than one kind) made me feel kinda crummy all the time. I felt pregnant, but I wasn't. I quit taking the pill, and felt much better.

If you think you are pregnant you should stop your pills immediately. You should definitely take a test. I got pregnant on the pill 3 times. If you are pregnant and were taking your pill regularly, make sure to ask your physician about why this may have occurred. My body wasn't compatible with the pill due to a undiagnosed blood clotting disorder. It could have caused me to stroke out because my specific disorder causes clots when my estrogen levels increase. You should find comfort that my kids all turned out okay, but it could effect development if you don't get off of them quickly.

if you are a woman there is always a chance you could be pregnant. the chance is much slimmer being on birth control, but babies happen when babies want to. i have two beautiful kiddos that i concieved while on the pill. if you take an over the counter test even the cheapy it may hel ease your fears. remember a negative result may be misleading, but a positive is reason to celebrate.

Yes you can get pregnant during that week! It is just a sugar pill and meant for you to take so you don't forget to take pills. It is strictly for the habit of taking them. Take a test. You very well might be pregnant! Good luck!

In my family all of the women have had problems with birth control. Every single women except one has gotten pregnant while on birth control. My mom was on birth control when she got pregnant with my brother and me, I was on birth control when I got pregnant. My mother was told by her doctor that her body rejects birth control. The weird thing with me is I was on the same birth control for 4 years before I ever became pregnant, so it is very possible to get pregnant while on birth control, I would definatly get a home pregnancy test to find out for sure.

hea, there's no guarantee that the pill will stop pregnancy. I agree, if you think you're pregnant, go get a test, they show before your period if you're pregnant or not

Yes!! I was one of the women who got pregnant while on the pill.. I had 2 kids that way.. I always had problems with birth control for me it was no better than drinking a glass of water..for use as bc.. I even tried the shots and that just gave me horrible arthritis and bleeding and because of those side effects my dr. said that the implants would be even worse for me.. so I had all my babies and got my tubes tied which of course I regret doing nearly everyday.. Please make sure to take a test if you haven't already and double check it a week or so later with a different test if it comes back neg the first time.. Good luck!!

First off, the BC pill is only 97%-99% effective depending on the brand your using. Secondly, if you are on any type of antibiotics, it can cancel your pill out, and thirdly, you should be taking the pill consisitantly at the same time every day. I got pregnant with my son while taking the pill. I was on antibiotics for a cold at the time and it canceled my pill out. Also, my daughter was a pill baby.... wasn't consistantly taking the pill all the time. Its only as effective as you make it. Good Luck! It may be a blessing in disguise... mine were!
