I got a new nikon camera for Christmas and it's real nice
But I have no idea how to use it. Do you know of any place I can go to get lessons? Or online tutorials? Or school?

I am a photographer. Seriously, take my advice:
Go to a locally owned camera store. Arlington Camera is one, but I see you're in Keller. Fort Worth Camera is another. OR you can find one close to you. THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST. They will be patient and answer all your questions. Plus you know they know what they're talking about, since selling cameras is all they do.

Reading the manual is an awesome start but if you have no idea what aperture or shutter speed or ISO mean, then you will get lost very fast.

You can also look online at photography blogs. If you got a Nikon you should check out froknowsphoto.com

You could definitely check into the library. There are probably some good starter books there.

I would NOT go to a school just to learn how to use your camera. That would be a waste of your money, unless you are considering getting into photography seriously (more than just a hobby).

Best Buy is amazing at teaching you how to use things! If they sell what you received, go in there and pick up the display model and ask any questions you want. I did that and felt SO much better afterward. They know everything about all their products. Otherwise I bet you can go on the website and email company or read about it. don't waste time or money on school

I bought a Nikon Coolpix L100 about 2 yrs ago, read the book 3 times and still didn't know much. Then I loaded the disc that came with the camera and found TUTORIALS!!! Also, logged on to the Nikon website, registered my camera and found MORE TUTORIALS, along with the full User's Manual which gave tons more info that the little book that came with the camera. If you hit a wall and cannot understand something, go to the blogs, you will find info there that is not covered in the standard tutorials. As previously stated, a good reputable camera store is great for info, and the best advice of all...PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!

Don't be insulted by this, but you might want to get the book: Digital SLRs for Dummies. I'm assuming that's what your camera is, anyway, since they're rather complicated.

I also recommend Fort Worth Camera. It's near downtown so not terribly far from Keller. I've taken several classes there and they've all been great! They have digital photography classes, but they also have classes for specific cameras, too, to teach you what every button and setting does on it. It's a store, but they're not just out to sell you something, they're actually very helpful -- friendly and knowledgeable. They're happy to answer questions even if you don't buy anything! Good luck!
