Does anyone have any cute ideas on how to tell your husband you are expecting? With our first child I told him over the phone since he was out of town. This time I want to make it more special.

What can I do next?

K.,

I did something different with each kid. We did the "baby" food dinner (baby back ribs, baby carrots, Easter Baby bread, Baby Ruth bar cake for dessert.) My husband had to think for a few minutes, but he got it.

With the first baby, I wrapped up a baby blanket I made and gave it to my hubby with a card that said something like "I made this and wrapped it up and so you can wrap up the real gift we made together coming in March."

We did t-shirts a couple of times. With baby #2, I brought baby #1 in to see Daddy with a "I'm a Big Sister" t-shirt on. The other time, we had just designed a family crest. I iron-on transferred t-shirts for everyone, including a little onesie and presented them.

Another time, I told the family we needed to have a party and I bought a balloon for each kid...with one extra.

Good luck,
S.

I saw on the show "Funniest Vidios" where the mom wrote on the diaper of the little one "I am going to be a big sister" so when the dad changed the little one he saw it. The reaction was hillarious!!!!!

Our first baby I bought a fortune cookie from http://www.fortunatelyyours.com/ that said late nights, early rises and diaper days are ahead, congratulations daddy. Then I made stirfry and gave him the fortune cookie. It was a great way to tell him.

For baby number two I bouth the book "pocket full of kisses" by Audrey Penn (sequil to "The Kissing Hand"), Then I had our daughter take the book to him, He was confused at first and then I said I thought he could start reading it to her. (to help her prepare for sharing kisses with a new baby) Then it clicked and he got very excited. You could find some big sister books and tell him that these would be great books for your daughter.

Either way have fun telling him and congrats on your news.

if you can stand to wait that long, you could wrap up the pregnancy test as a xmas gift for him. or just leave it sitting on the toilet lid for him to go in and see when he'll least expect it. or set it up to have congrats balloons delivered to him right before (or after so you can see him react) you get home from work.

What I did was attach balloons- "It's a Boy" and "It's a Girl" to the pregnancy test. I set them at the head of the bed because when he came home from work- he headed there first to change.

if you have a sonogram pic and can wait a few days. i say go to walgreens and use the pic to make a personalized christmas card then put it in the actual mail. that way since he is home all day he will get the mail and have a great suprise when he opens it. :)

Hi K., congratulations. I'm the grandmother, but my son & his wife put a cute poem in a Christmas card to tell us for the first grandchild. The second one was in a fortune cookie at Leann Chin's restaurant. I'm not sure they still do that, but it was hilarious and the staff were just as excited to see our faces when we read that fortune!

For our second daughter I took the pregnancy test and took out the tip so there was only the stick with the positive result. I put it in a box and wrapped it up. He was very surprised when he opened it. Our girls are 6 years apart!

Since we are so close to Christmas how about getting a pink and blue crayon and wrapping them in a small box with a bow on it. Better yet if you can't wait until then how about St. Nick in the stocking? Let us know how you do and congratulations!

my brother gave my parents a card that they had thier little one make and in it it had a cute poem ( cant remember what it was) that said they were having another one. my cousin did the same to her parents at the family christmas but instead of the card she had her son wear a t-shirt that my made up that said big brother on it. it took a little bit for my aunt to figure it out, then it was like a light bulb turned on, it was cute how they did it.
congrats on your little one!

I am 15 wks, and to tell him, I put my son (2) in a Big Brother shirt when he woke up from his nap, then had him carry the pregnancy test downstairs to "say hi" to daddy. He was shocked! And laughed pretty hard. Then we had the 2 yr old call the parents and say "Mommy has a baby in her belly!"

I gave my hubby a present - baby booties and a bib and onsie that had sayings about daddy on them. He got the message pretty quick, and the look on his face was priceless!

I'm pregnant with my first. When I found out I was pregnant, I too, wanted a cute way of telling my boyfriend. I couldn't think of any ideas. I ended up going to the store and buying a unisex baby outfit and wrapping it up like a birthday present( even though his birthday had past months ago). We went out to dinner and I presented the gift during dessert. When he opened the gift, his eyes sparkled with tears in them! Even though it wasn't really a creative idea ( i'm sure its been done tons of times) my boyfriend thought it was really cute!

how about a Christmas card (or another card if you are not Christian) To Daddy, From your daughter and "?" (that's a question mark--my font looks funny today) with the "?" representing the baby.

Or you could get a t-shirt or onesie for your daughter that says "I'm a big sister" and have it on her when he comes home and see how long it takes him to notice what it says.

Congrats. You can put baby booties in his St. Nick stocking. Give your child a baby doll for Christmas with a note for dad to read that now she can practice being a big sister. There are tons of ways to tell- just use your imagination.
