My kids are finally over the stickering everything phase. Thank goodness! However tonight I tried to peal off their last remaining art and some foam stickers that I had left on for months left a ton of residue behind. I've tried everything I can think of. Is there any secret to get it off? Even painting over it will leave the bumpy texture there. Any advice appreciated.
Goo Gone works, but it stinks and can leave a residue.
I usually use vitamin E oil to remove stickers (or band aids). Works great and is safe.
Goo gone. Nail polish remover, lighter fluid. A credit card to use as a scraper. Sometimes a really warm soapy water sponge, held on top of the sticky.
Another vote for Goo Gone. You can find it in any hardware store near the adhesives. It's sometimes available in supermarkets near the other cleaners and things like silver/brass polish. Just ventilate well while you are working.
Goo Gone is what I use typically. But it may take the paint off a bit ... try a small area first. But I use it for everything. Smells a bit.
I've used nail polish remover, windex, and rubbing alcohol. But Goo Gone for tough stuff that nothing else removes.
And as other moms have said, a paint scraper or some type of scraping tool will get the last bits off.

B is right, Goo gone is " good stuff" :) try that..
also.. have you tried a razor blade? that can really cover a surface well because the blade is so fine.. try both.. together, they ought to work... first the goo.. or even try the blade before.. see if that will work..
When I worked in a flower shop we always used rubbing alcohol to get the price tag or label goo off of vases or other containers. The nice thing about rubbing alcohol versus some of the others is that it evaporates and doesn't leave any toxic residue behind.
Ah yews, th lovely foam sticker gunk. My daughter went crazy with them and even, don't ask how, got one on the ceiling. You can try a razor blade gently but that stuff mostly just moves around. I used a razor, then a Mr Clean eraser. It took time but got the stuff off. Then just a few wipes with alcohol for the final stickiness.
Goo Gone and nail polish remover will take the paint off and ruin the finish.
Maybe you could try just small quick swabbing with it and you might get just the sticker adhesive without taking the paint off - but be careful and go slow.
Try soaking it with water and scrapping it off with a credit card.
If you can do it gently enough, try a scrapper (like what they use to remove car window stickers) - you might be able to get the glue off without scraping the paint off.
Coconut oil works too!
Rubbing alcohol. I've used it on so many stickers and band aids that stick to stuffed toys or clothing (and go through the wash unnoticed!). I've used it to get sticky residue off from labels as well. Some things take a little more work than others but it's always worked and gotten it all off.
Goo Gone is at Walmart or Walgreen's kind of stores. Good luck.
The paper stickers will come off if you soak them with olive oil and let it sit. The foam ones are bad to remove because oil won't soak through them. The only way we actually removed them was by ysing a paint scraper to get rid of most of the foam sticker and then using paint remover to get rid of the remaining residue. Of course if you do that then you'll have to repaint the doors.
WD40. Lots of rubbing too. Gets off the sticky stuff. The lighter fluid is good for getting paper off paper, too.
Goo Gone. Clean off the residue with dish soap afterwards.
Goo Gone works like a charm.
