Hi Moms!
Okay, am asking this because my Hubby and daughter are going to Europe this summer, to visit the Grandma there and see Disneyland Paris.

We have not traveled anywhere since we had kids 6-7 years ago!
I am taking care of the details for my Hubby, because I am a Mom who wants to be sure they have everything and are geared up properly, LOL.

Now, about packing for a toiletry bag... per TSA rules... does EVERYTHING have to be in one of those clear bottles and clear baggie type toiletry bags????
What about things like shaving cream or hair products....? I would think it's nearly impossible to put shaving cream in one of those small clear plastic bottles.
And what about razor blades?
And what about contact lense solution? How the heck is this supposed to be packed? In those clear plastic bottles too, and plastic bags????
Can you even label these things?

If I were traveling with them (which I'm not), who'd know what to do with make-up and face creams and packing these per all those rules.

If anyone can share any tips or information. I read some of those TSA rules, it seems so confusing.

Thank you!

What can I do next?

Hello S H!

All of the items you mentioned are okay in checked luggage, and your husband can pack them however he likes, like in his toiletry bag or whatever. They don't need to be stored in clear ziploc bags.

But for his carry-on, which I am sure he will have, the rules will apply and he will need to store any liquid items in a ziploc bag. And liquid items can not be more than 4oz. If he needs to bring contact lens solution with him on the plane, he needs to put some in a container that holds 4oz or less.

He won't be able to go through security with milk or a bottle of water, those items will get dumped if he tries (or forgets like I do sometimes!). He'll have to purchase drinks inside the terminal. He can carry food through security with no problems. But if he has any kind of jarred foods, or fruit cups for example, he should put those in a plastic bag as well.

We travel to Finland with our kids quite a bit, so I'm trying to think of all the things we do. By the way, my husband is taking both of our kids to Finland by himself for SIX MONTHS in July. They will spend time with his family out there.

Anyway...for a checked suitcase there are no rules for packing toiletries. Only for carry-ons. As long as he has everything in 4oz or less containers and puts them in a plastic bag, he should be just fine.

Just go right to the TSA website for a list of all their regulations; http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitt... There are many items that you can't have in your carry-on at all, but that are ok in you checked luggage.
Good luck!

Susan,

Oh my goodnes, I just went through this when I traveled for work!! But, like the previous poster said it can all be packed in the suitcase. I did the ONLY want I KNOW I will NEED with me in the backpack for on the plane and that was it.

My son carries a backpack and so do I...two carry-ons with ALL the essentials for keeping a kiddo busy on a flight. They won't let him go through with drink items like water, but he can purchase them at gift stores once on the flight. I made sure to grab an extra juice and water and some snacks before we hit the plane, because magically they run out on every flight I'm on.

I hope they have fun and good luck!
