We are having a Tinkerbell theme for my daughters 4th birthday. I am making cupcakes and wanted to put them on a cake tier. I don't want to buy one because funds are limited. How can I make one? Or does anyone have an idea on how I can display them anyother way? Also, I want to make the dining room Tinkerbell theme. Anyone have any great ideas on that with a limited budget? Thanks in advance.

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your ideas and suggestions. They have all helped me. I think I am just going to go the homemade way and use my candle holders and plates.Since it is Tinkerbell I am going to put cotton balls around the bottom to make clouds. Thank you again for all of your help.

Do you have two cake pedastals of graduating sizes? You could put the smaller of the two on the top, and arrange your cupcakes on that.

Alternatively, a large platter and a smaller plate with a pedastal of some sort (maybe a pillar candle holder, or a bowl turned upside down). You could secure it with double stick tape.

You can get some round hat boxes and use those or get cake boards, put columns in between and use those. If you have more questions you can email me. I make customized cakes, cupcakes and cookies. You can see my website too: http://www.brilliantcakes.com

In regards to the decorations, you can try going to a Dollar Tree store and they might have some fairy type decorations you can use.

Love the advice,

I would also think of checking into www.familyfun.com They have some great ideas! :)

Also--Wal-Mart has some Tinker Bell cupcake baking paper. You can use colored sugar sprinkles to decorate the cupcakes.

You can also do theme colored balloons, streamers, curled ribbons, also, sparkle confetti to resemble pixie dust....marsh mellows instead of cotton balls maybe to keep all things edible?

Also check your dollar stores/target's dollar bin and see if you can find additional themed goodies.

Good luck and most important, have fun!

simple and cheap. Find two or three boxes lying around and put then turned over on your table. Put the smaller one on top of the larger one. You can either drape some fabric over them that you already have or you can wrap them in paper or tissue that matches your theme. Then place your cupcakes on them. Easy and CHEAP!! I do this all the time on my tables to give it visual interest!

For the Tinkerbell theme, you can do the table in lime green and pink and of course sprinkle something on the table (sugar maybe) that can be fairy dust.

You can print pictures of Tinkerbell out and use those on the walls. A plain colored table cloth and plates, napkins, streamers... are sometimes cheaper than character ones. Just sprinkle the table with glitter for fairy dust. And you can get a couple of Tinker Bell balloons blown up for fairly cheap at Party stores. You can get tulle in pink and green from Walmart to hang as a backdrop that would be really cute, it's only 88 cents a yard, and it goes a long way. So 3 yards of each would be less than $6.

My mother in law just bought me this "cupcake stand" recently and I think she said she bought it at Walgreens. It's not really fancy so I don't think she paid much for it but it's just something cute that resembles a cake stand.

I know that you said you didn't want to purchase anything but.... You can go to hobbylobby.com (joann's and michael's have these too) and print out the 40% coupon and purchase a desert stand. They have 2 different sizes. I have a cute one from Wilton's that holds 13 cupcakes, but there is the next size up that holds more. Here's a link for what I'm talking about....

My cousin just got married and had cupcakes. They had limited funds, so her sister did them. She took boxes of various sized and stacked them, put ribbons around them and flowers and then put the cupcakes around the edges. It was graduated like a wedding cakes would be. She also took ribbon and wrapped the base of the cupcakes. This would probably be really cute in yellow and green. Good luck!

Don't know when you are having her party, but I have lots of Tinkerbell items that came from Hobby Lobby and a party store.
Could offer them to you very inexpensively.

My daughter's best friend (17) is a longtime Tinkerbell fan and her room is still done in Tinkerbell. She has a costume with wings, wig, eyelashes and all. You might consider having her stop in during the party for a photo opportunity.

She is a wonderful young lady who lives in Frisco, very responsible, and great with kids. She was a captain on the Frisco Drill Team, has great babysitting references and works for an optical doctor this summer prior to leaving for college in the fall.

If interested I can get her number for you.
Make memories!

I know you said you didn't want to buy a cupcake tier, but if you can spare $5, they had them in the Big Lots flyer last week. And $5 sounds pretty cheap.
