How to Get the Stains off Her Hands?

We were at the park yesterday, and my daughter picked up a big green ball that feel off a tree. Call me stupid, but I have no idea what it was. She was playing with it for a bit and I told her to chuck it. Well, somehow she smuggled in into the car and was picking it apart back there. >:(
Her fingers and finger nails are stained brownish, yellowish, green. Any ideas on how to get it off? Soap and water is not cutting it!

What can I do next?

sounds like a black walnut! Here's a link for removing actual wood stain....it might help since it involves using vegetable oil.

You could also try hand sanitizer. My dauighter slept at a friend's house and this friend's cousin wrote on my daughter's face while she was sleeping with a permanent marker. When I found out....mad does not describe it. The girl is 9 or 10.
My daughter went home and the only thing she was able to use to get it off was the hand sanitizer. Maybe it is the alcohol in it. She said she used the stuff and then washed her face but it took 3 or 4 times to finally remove everything. And because it was her face, it stung. If anything, maybe it will at least lighten it so it fades faster.
Needless to say, this girl is not allowed at my home.

My grandparents use to have walnut trees in thier yard. Sounds like it could be those. We use to get stained hands when pickin them up for them. You can use any of these... rubbing lemon juice, vinegar, dish soap, nail polish remover or toothpaste ( the baking soda kind works good) on the skin. You can use them alone or mix and match with some elbow grease, it will come clean.

Alcohol, witch hazel and olive oil have at one time or another helped me out when my children or grandchildren did themselves proud with colorants or tar.

Agree w/Sue - it sounds like a black walnut! The outer green shell is fairly smooth? See you have to get that off before you can even get to what most people would recognize as a walnut! And those rind things are HARD - as it, put down on the drive and drive a car over them to break!

And yes, they stain pretty bad! Only thing I remember is that it pretty much had to wear off (but that was before the days of Oxyclean and such)

I suppose you could try Goo Gone, but then you'd have to wash hands with soap again a few times to get the smell off.
The stuff my husband uses in the garage after working on the car - Lava I think it's called should work but it's kind of harsh on the skin.

Try soaking a paper towel in olive oil and rubbing it on her hands.

What it a big green bumpy ball about the size of a softball? If so the stains will just have to wear off. We have those where I live. They are called headge apples. They were fun to play with growing up.

How about Oxy Clean dissolved in water? I've used it on mine and my kids' hands many times (works GREAT for red juice stains!)

You might want to try rubbing alcohol. My son colored with a black Sharpie on his forehead and I was freaking out because it wouldn't come off with soap & water. My hubby grabbed an alcohol prep pad, and it came off immediately.

what she picked up was a black walnut. My 8 year old and I tore one apart to get to the walnut and we now have black fingers and nails. They went from yellowish green to brown and then black. It's been over 2 weeks and I still have the stain under my nails. Not a single thing worked, someone said bleach diluted but I didn't do it. Good luck.....lol
