How to Get Pen & Dark Stains Out

I have a 18 month old that loves to "draw".
We have pen marks on his clothes and also stain marks from color transfers during a wash.
How do I get these two out?
I just got a new adorable pant for my son and it has a stain from a darker color transfer. I would hate it to throw it out!

Thanks for all your advice!

What can I do next?

Believe it or not, hairspray really works on ink stains. Put a paper towel on the inside of the garment, spray the ink with hairspray & blot with a second paper towel. Do it again if you need to. Wash in cold water & line dry (the heat from the dryer will set in any ink left over, making it harder to remove). You might have to do it a couple of times, but usually it comes out first try. Works like a champ! I've done it with pen marks from black, blue and red inks.

Good luck...

Alchol, rubbing alcohol, not drinking :) works great on ink stains. That's why cheap hairspray works so well, it has a high concentration of alcohol. My ex-husband washed and dried a pen with his new work uniforms and we couldn't afford to replace them all so I figured I'd try the rubbing alcohol and it worked! I put it on the dry clothes on the ink spots and hung them over the shower curtain to dry and then rinsed in cold water, let air dry then used the alcohol to get the remainder of the stain out. Then I washed them again with cold water and laundry soap with borax and I think there was a tiny bit in the seam of the pants but that was it and before the shirts were covered and the pants were horrible. Borax and baking soda can help get the darker stain transfer off of clothes too. Also you may want to try some of the nelsfara (not sure if that is how it is spelled) soap, I found mine in the laundry section and it worked great at getting off old stains on maternity clothes that had been in storage since my sister had her last daughter over 2 years ago.

Hairspray takes out ink stains if you get to it right away. At 18 months you may want to stick with crayons. J.

I use hairspray for pen marks. I use the Shout color catchers to keep clothes from bleeding on others. I put one in when I wash darks and when I wash reds/pinks. They work great!! I also yank them out as soon as they finish because if they sit in the washer very long they can bleed on other clothes while they sit. As far as getting the dark color off the pants, I had that happen on a new quilt. I Googled it and found a solution but unfortunately, I can't remember exactly what I did. I know I used clorox 2. I should have written it down. : {

You might try saturating the dye transfer on his new pant w/ Windex or Glass Plus and wash again. That took red dye transfer off a tan skirt ages ago - hope it helps you!

Hand sanitizer is gelled rubbing alcohol and easier to use on stains because it stays put instead of running. Gets ink off surfaces too.
