Hello Wise Moms,

Can anyone recommend a good home (or store bought) remedy for fading and getting rid of a very dark bruise. I've been applying Arnicaflora on it, but it is not working fast enough. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi C.,

For a bruise that dark, Arnica in X potency is probably not going to be effective...you might need to go much higher. Also, it might not be the correct remedy. Try Ledum also. If neither works, consult a classically trained homeopath.

Arnica Montana 30X internally 3x/day

1500mg of vitaminC with 1500mg of bioflavinoids - split this up 3x/day - 500mg of each at a time.

Most people don't realize that it's not the (ascorbic acid)vitamin C that actually heals the body, It's the vitamin C complex which includes bioflavinoids....and you need a 1:1 ratio.

Someone once told me that they heard if you rub your bruise upward toward your heart, it will go away much faster. My sister says it works for her. Sounds weird and a little painful but give it a try.

I am glad you brought this up. I bruise easy and have a major problem with bruises on my legs that I just can't get rid of or are not fading away. I have only used an over the counter skin tone cream and an aloe vera plant, but nothing has really helped.

Use Camphor...best if pure in an ointment...but you can use Mentholatum Brand Ointment and it will work.

I agree with Julia M. and am concerned about why you are worrying about hurrying to get rid of a bruise? Is there anything else that you need help with? I am praying for you.

Maybe go to the Doctor.
A bruise can be either surface injury, or a hematoma... and the deeper layers of the skin/muscle tissue is also affected/injured. Hematomas take longer to heal.
Is there a lump under the bruise? This can indicate the the underlying muscles are bruise too....

I would see a Doctor.

take care,
susan
