I'd like to know how much do you pay for someone watching your child in their home? Or also how much do you pay in daycare? Or for nanny that comes to your home? thanks!

What can I do next?

When I was watching a friend's child, she paid me $15 for the day. Normally it was less than 6 hours, and it gave my DD someone to play with.

When I was working, many years ago, and paying a babysitter to watch my oldest in her home, I was paying $15 a day then also. I've paid as much as $25, not liking it, but I did! lol

As far as a "real" daycare or nanny are concerned, I don't have any experience with that!

Hi, I am in the day care field, and I was in the nanny field before that. So, as a child care provider based on a 25 hr week it is $100., and on a 40hr week it is $150...When I was a nanny for five children in the same home, I got paid $20 an hr..
I hope this helps. I agree with the other lady also, it depends on the age of the person caring for your child, and what services they can offer you.

i think it all depends on a few things. i babysit for 2 families one has 3 kids and i get paid 15$ per hour. the other family only has one child and also pays around 15$ per hour. that is just for extra income for me a single mom. now on the other hand my daughters daycare is about 150$ per week and that depends on the age of the child. also, i think it depends on the age of the babysitter. you can pay a teen a little less than you would and adult. hope i could help you out. plus now you know who you can email if you need a babysitter. ha ha

When my husband and I started to look into daycare (about 2 1/2 yrs ago) we found that the average cost per week was about $150 in the Camp Hill area. We've been lucky enough to find the most amazing woman in the world who watches our daughter in her home for about 2/3 that and she does more to prepare the children for school than many of the bigger sites with actual teachers.

In my opinion your best bet is to look around for a place you are comfortable with that will allow you to stop in unannounce a few times and just kind of observe while keeping on the look out for the caregiver of your dreams. The real gems are often found only by word of mouth, and like a good hairdresser people can be reluctant to share a great caregiver. I don't think that the lady who watches my daughter ever has to look for new clients and people are practically begging her to get their kids in her care.

Good luck in your search!
