How Much Make up Do You Wear?

The other question got M. wondering how much make up do you wear?
I didn't wear the tiniest except prom and wedding day (to my ex) until I was 26 and we were splitting up. Since that day I wear black eyeliner, mascara and at times lip gloss and maybe if i really wantt to be extra fancy some glittery eye shadow. I was always a tom boy and my girly 5 year old has been girly since 9 months when she would beg for a dress, "tap shoes" and bow when waking up. So I guess she's changing M.. Style is her thing. She would walk up to ladies and compliment their shoes when she was one so it was only a matter of time before I tried to be a little girlier.
Anyway off topic
I'm not even sure what else there is for make up, some people speak of "putting on a face" some say it takes a long time
my eye liner and mascara takes about 10 seconds, so what am i missing?
how much and what kind of make up do you wear and why?

What can I do next?

I only wear it on stage. I wear none on a daily basis.

I wash my face in the shower with the same soap I use on the rest of my body.

I have not so good skin, so I usually put on a light foundation, some powder and a little blush, makes M. look a little more ALIVE! I will usually add a little mascara and a lip gloss, if we are going out or I J. feel like doing it up a little I will add some eye shadow, I usually J. use nuetral colors, and a darker lipstick rather than J. a gloss. I have some friends that take FOREVER to put on their make up and they always look the same to M.. It takes M. 5 minutes tops! Sometimes I J. feel better if I have a little color to my face.

I wear a good foundation or a double powder to even out my skin tone. Light eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipgloss and a little blush. I don't wear it unless I am leaving the house. At home I let my skin breathe. :)

60-90 minutes... NOT photo ready... But 'real life photo' (photographic makeup looks AWFUL in real life unless one uses some very specific products / techniques)... I prefer to hire a makeup artist for photo ready. Cheaper.

BOTH versions : warpaint & hot damn I go with a 'fresh faced' look and palette. I'm NOT pretty naturally, my face is too wonky to be pretty. But makeup can make M. look pretty. The vavavoom makep I'm literally creating angles where there aren't any, and removing angles where there are. It's all VERY subtle (but I look like 'my sister' instead of myself made up. Photographic makeup is NOT subtle, because photos are 2d. Heck, you draw on nostril curves with photo makep!!! IRL? Yikes.) point being... It's not playboy or Elvira in 60-90 minutes... It's 'plastic surgery'. I'm literally painting a different face on top of my own / what I WOULD have looked like if I were more symmetrical, less coarse, etc. aka 'the pretty sister' version of M.!!

Also a tomboy... I J. dig feeling pretty. Hence makeup & super sexy lingerie... With jeans, tee, flipflops (i dress like a 12yo boy) and ponytail or pixie cut.

I wash my face with a Clairsonic, then moisturize, then brush on a liquid foundation (because I use a brush, I use a very small amount of foundation - less than half the size of a dime - and it covers my whole face). Then blush, under-eye concealer, eyeshadow (2 colors, or 3 if I'm feeling fancy), curl my eyelashes, and put on mascara. Maybe a little lip gloss. From start to finish, maybe 5 minutes, including washing my face. :) I'm a total product junkie (the ladies at Sephora know M. by name, no joke), and I don't think I have two things in my entire bathroom that are the same brand.

I J. feel more put-together when I wear makeup. I'm of Irish descent, so I feel like my skin has too much of a pink tinge to it naturally. Foundation corrects that. Blush gives M. a little color (I don't tan at all). Under-eye concealer keeps M. from looking my age (haha), and since I feel my eyes are my best feature, the eyeshadow and mascara helps them look their best. On occasion I'll leave the house with no makeup, but I don't take off my sunglasses! ;)

Seems like I've worn makeup forever!! But as I've gotten older I wear less and am very fast at putting on what I do wear - 15 minutes, tops!

I always wear eye makeup. Seems my eyes disappear without it!! Eyeliner (the crayon type) on top and bottom and then eyeshadow; don't wear mascara - don't like it. Eyebrow pencil since they're near nonexistent! Blush, a little concealer under the eyes and on a few spots (especially a scar that I hate!), a couple pats with my pressed powder to set it all then lipstick and I'm good to go.

I can be out the door within 30 minutes nowadays; and that's INCLUDING a shower!! Used to be when I was younger it would take M. over an hour to get ready. What the heck was I doing?? lol!!!!

Fun question!!!

I used to wear a "full face of make-up", when I worked outside the house and in my work I do from home up until about a year ago. I didn't wear a lot of heavy make-up though... but it was foundation, blush, eye shadow, mascara. It didn't take M. long to do because I'd been doing it so long, I had the routine down pat.

About a year ago though, I started wearing less. As I get older, I find that I look more natural and younger with less make-up. (If it's a special occasion I'll wear more.) Typically, I wear a little bit of concealer under my eyes, mascara and sometimes a tiny bit of blush J. to put some color to my face.

Why do I wear make-up? I guess I J. have always felt like I'm more put together. It seems like no matter what you wear, if you don't bother to put on a little make-up or fix your hair, you still look like you aren't put together. Now I work with kids all day, and they don't care what I look like... parents don't really care either I don't think. But I still feel like I'm going to work and I want to look like I'm ready for the day rather than like I J. rolled out of bed. Some people don't need make-up, but it makes M. feel better when I wear a little.

I spend less than 10 minutes on facial cleansing, moisturinzing, and makeup routine.

I wear a light base, tinted moisturizer with sunscreen, loose powder it, light blush, eyeliner, shadow, mascara, and Berts Bees tinted lip gloss. ALL my make-up, cleansers and moisturizers are Clinique.

When I am on a modeling gig, I get the works with makeup and I will only wear the works when I am on a modeling job or when I was in beauty pageants and dance recitals growing up.

I feel better when I have my bit of makeup on. I have more energy. When I have no makeup and unwashed hair, I am groggy and unenergetic all day. I need to be productive and it helps M. do that, even if it is really all in my head.

When I am at home all day I typically wear none or some. When I go to the store I typically wear shadow, liner, mascara, gloss, concealer (if needed that day). When I go out I wear the whole shebang! I LOVE MAKEUP. I love the way it can make someone feel, I love the ability to alter your appearance J. so, I love the art, technique and all that jazz. Somedays it takes 5-10min sometimes I happily spend an hour ... it J. depends on my mood. In addition I try out new "looks" on days when I know I am going no where and want to "play" with new colors or new styles. I love to take looks in magazines and make them "wearable" while keeping the syle/colors and inspiration from the look. It is J. plain fun.

I'm a fair blonde so I do need a little something at work and when I go out, otherwise I look pretty washed out. I wear a very light liquid foundation (I like to still be able to "see" my skin), loose powder to set it, light blush, mascara and pale lip gloss. If we're going out in the evening, I may add eye shadow to that mix. If we're staying home, I like to give my skin a break and I J. wear moisturizer.

Like I said in that post, I only wear makeup when I go out with hubs and sometimes to church. When I do, its blush, eyeliner with some eyeshadow and lip gloss. I barely have any eyelashes and SHOULD wear mascara but it seems like no matter the brand, when I do, I get itchy eyes. So I don't even bother with that anymore. And the funniest thing? It seems like the days I *feel* the ugliest is when hubs will lean over to M. and say, "babes, you look beautiful." Go figure. =)

I take about 10 minutes on makeup...

I wear foundation or tinted moisturizer, to even out my skin tone...
Eye liner because I like how it makes my eyes look,
Some basic eye shadow... because I like how it makes my eyes look.

If I'm feeling like 'putting on a face', and actually spending time, I will do a bit more complicated eye shadow, mascara, and maybe some lip gloss or something.

I wear a light powder, brown eyeliner (not always), mascara, chap-stick and a little blush. If I am going out or have a date-night with my husband I will sometimes put on lip stick and a little eye-shadow.

It takes M. maybe 5 minutes to "put on my face". The mascara takes M. the longest. If I had to pick 1 make-up item it definitely be my mascara and most weekends that's about all I put on.

I have a 3 minute, 5 minute, and 10 minute routine. I spent 15 minutes doing my wedding makeup (would have loved to spend more time, but we were behind schedule). I don't know how anyone can do eyeliner 10 seconds. I do a smokey eye so it always takes at least 3-4 minutes on eyes alone. I had a roommate who took 1 hour to put her makeup on. She would redo it until it was perfect. Lucky for her she was beautiful with or without it. She went without more often than not.
Some people are perfectionist, they have all kinds of tricks and techniques, and products (eye brow shaping, under eye concealer, eye shadow base, contouring, lip liner, toners, 4 shades of eyeshadow, shimmer at the cornier of the eye, high light on the brow bone, bronzers...., . Others J. slap it on. On a spectrum I'm much closer to slapping it on. On a typical day I do a very light foundation, blush, three shades of eyeshadow, liner, mascara, blush, and lip gloss.

But really, I only do that if we are going out. My every day wear is some Carmex.

I don't wear a lot of make-up on regular basis. When I was working, I used some basic stuff - talcum powder, eye-liner or kohl, an occasional lipstick, that's pretty much it. Didn't wear more for my wedding as well.

Actually, my lack of trying more make-up comes from laziness. I am lazy to the bones, so much I don't even do a daily routine of moisturizing or scrubbing regularly. I do my eyebrows, upper lip, etc on Friday nights, when I realize I might be going somewhere fancy during the weekend (am a SAHM, so don't go out much during the week). And since my face most of the time looks so not ready, I never put in the effort to learn to use more make-up, and use it efficiently. I know, that's no excuse for not taking care otherwise...
Keeping fingers crossed, that once if and when I start working again (maybe by this time next yr! <sigh>), I'd start taking more care...

I don't wear makeup at all. The last time I wore anything was some mascara with a Halloween costume and I can't even remember how long ago that was but it was years ago.
I only wore a little mascara for my wedding, nothing else. My cousin was genuinely hurt when I said I didn't want her to make M. all up when she offered because she sold Clinque at the time. She had given M. some lipstick with my wedding shower present that I tested on my arm first (thankfully!!) and turns out I'm allergic to it.
I am allergic to so many cosmetics, and those that I am not allergic to are expensive often times.
I used to wear makeup all the time in high school and for a little while after I graduated. But it was so time consuming putting it on and then cleaning it all off in the evening. And I began to feel more like a clown than a lady with all that goop everyone expects you to put on to "look pretty". I developed a much better self esteem and realized I was pretty without it. After I stopped wearing any makeup, when I did wear it, I'd have things like blue mascara for a Halloween costume or something off the wall for the sake of a character but never every day.

During the summer I never wear foundation because I can't find one that doesn't make M. sweat like a pig.

In cooler weather I'll wear a tinted moisturizer, earth-toned eye shadow, mascara, and lip gloss.

For a date night or formal event I'll wear actual foundation, purple or smoke-hued eye shadow, curl my lashes, heavier mascara, smudged eye liner, and a longer lasting lip stain.

But of course there are days when I can't do any of that and J. go with a clean face & some mascara done in the car. But what I NEVER go without is a necklace. I have worn a necklace of some sort every day since I was in jr high school. I never realized it was kinda "my thing" until one of my friends mentioned that she loved that I always wore a necklace.

Some days, none at all, but my usual, basic routine is light moisturizer/sunscreen, mineral powder, mascara and lip gloss. It takes about two minutes.
