How Long Do You Sleep?

I sleep, 2 hours & wake up. Once in a while, I sleep 3, but I constantly wake up, all night. I can remember 1 time, sleeping around 8 hours, when I took melatonin. Im always tired & Ive had a headache for about a week. (this time, I get alot of headaches) I think, I maybe trained myself to wake up alot with having babies. I have a little one now, who does wake me up, but even when she doesnt, without fail, I wake up, go to the bathroom, sometimes I snack (Ive done great recently with no eating during wake ups, trying to change.) I go to bed around 11:30-12, and Im up for the day, by 7 most days. When I wake up, Im usually awake for 15-30 min, if its after 4:30 when DH is up, Im up at least an hour, and dont always get back to sleep. So what are your sleep habits like?

What can I do next?

I try to get to bed by 10 b/c I am up at 5:30. My hubby gets home around midnight so I usually wake up to the car coming up the driveway then again when he comes to bed. Occasionally my little one will sneak in around 4 am and I again wake up, but only long enough to snuggle him in!

I usually got to bed around midnight and wake up 7ish each day. Every once in a blue moon, my husband lets me sleep in till around 9. I know that if I had a chance, I would be able to sleep until noon...just like I did in high school and college.

Not long enough!

Before baby - a blissful 8 hours straight.

Now, 6-7 hours of broken sleep. I am exhausted.

I usually sleep 5-6 hours, but it is broken like yours. My husband is a day sleeper and usually can't sleep very long either. He drinks tart cherry juice, it makes him a more sound sleeper, and his sleep is not so broken up. Not sure if you are interested in anything like that, but I wanted to tell you about it anyway. Maybe I should take some too haha

Get your Thyroid checked out! You are showing the same signs as my siblings did when they were diagnosed with thyroid issues. Your thyroid regulates your sleep cycles, you feeling hungry or not hungry all the time and if you feel too warm or too cold all the time.

I am the same way. I sleep at around 10 pm, wake up every hour and a half to either go to the bathroom and/or check on the kids (make sure they don't kick off their covers). It's been an awful sleeping pattern since having kids! sigh...I am up for the day at 4am usually.

It sounds like you're overly tired from not getting enough sleep so your body has an excess amount of Serotonin built up which makes it hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. If melatonin works for you, I"d try taking it for a few nights in a row and go to bed earlier. Once you've had some decent sleep for a few nights, you might find it easier to stay asleep. Good luck!

6 hours generally.

My kids are 4 and 8 years old.
Even if the kids are sleeping all night and the Husband, I get up.
I have a consistent waking time, no matter what time I go to bed. Just naturally will wake at a certain time.

I have no trouble falling asleep.
Nor waking or going back to sleep.
I don't have a problem with interrupted sleep either.

I don't eat when awake. I'm not a snacker.

I am also the type that can exist fine on meager sleep hours.

I wake anywhere between 4:00am-6:00am. I don't need an alarm clock.
Sometimes I go back to sleep. Sometimes not.
I get things done, when everyone else is sleeping. And it is QUIET.
The only time, it is quiet.

I sleep nine hours straight. Sometimes I wake up for a second to roll over but if I don't get at least nine hours, I'm useless. I guess I'm lucky.

I get my 8 hours of sleep every night. What's been very helpful is a natural supplement called ageLOC Vitality. I've been taking it for over 6 months now, and it helps me get that really deep sleep. And when I wake up, I feel fully rested. It also helped regulate my body....my body was naturally getting sleepy around 10:30pm because I get up at 6:30am - giving me my 8 hours. Love it!

Sounds like me, and I was hoping you would get some good advice! I can't remember sleeping through the night since before I was pregnant with my first child. I slept in our guest room last night as a mother's day gift--my hubby was on duty to get up with our almost 2 and 5 year olds. Of course, once the sun was up, so was I; once it was their normal waking time, I was wide awake, even though I could sleep as long as I wanted (I also woke up at least 3 times before that). I guess our bodies get trained when we have young ones. I did at least fall asleep again after my normal waking time and cash in on my sleeping-in morning, but nothing beats uninterrupted sleep!! I've never taken anything for sleep, and I go to my chiropractor for headaches (helps 95% of the time). I guess it's nice to know that other mom's are in the same boat so we feel normal, but also sad that none of us are sleeping well! This too shall pass!!! Soon, they will be teenagers sleeping till noon everyday!

i NEED about 8 or 9 hours a night, but my little ones have different ideas about that :)

Lately it's been about 6 or 7 hours of broken sleep (baby still wakes up to nurse 1-3 times/night) and i'm so exhausted and miserable. I need a lot of sleep, i don't know how you do it! I would suggest maybe talking to a doctor about your sleep--it's not normal or healthy

I typically get around 7 hours of interrupted sleep a night...My 4 year old sleeps with me, so usually around 3-4 AM he starts to move around and itching his arms and legs, I put a LOT of lotion on him before bed, but it's never enough... plus I usually go to the bathroom at least 2 times during the night/time I need to wake up... I know I'm sleep deprived because as soon as my head hits the pillow, I'm OUT, well until I have to go to the bathroom...:( Every blue moon I may get 8+ hours but I cannot recall uninterrupted sleep since I was a teenager...

bedtime midnight and wake up 6:45. Occasionally I wake up in the middle of the night to pee, but not most nights. Even when I do wake up to pee sometimes I am just so warm and cozy and do not go to the bathroom, and I have never yet wet the bed, lol! I would ask a doctor, since with that kind of schedule you may not get the truly "deep" sleep that helps your body heal and recharge. My youngest daughter has a hard time falling asleep and also wakes at least once in the night, but we have told her to just turn around and not get up and most nights she falls back asleep on her own. Sometimes she comes to our bed to say she is scared or heard a sound. If the melatonin works for you, why not take that more often? We tried it for our daughter and it worked well for about 3 nights and then she started having really intense dreams that scared her. She now takes Clonidine nightly in order to fall asleep, but it will not keep someone asleep. (she has inattentive ADD and her brain keeps whirling around),

I think you should explain your sleep habits to your doctor and possibly ask for a referral to a Neurologist who specializes in sleep disorders.

You have a classic sleep disturbance pattern whereby you can fall asleep but you cannot stay asleep. Thus the headaches. It's not a healthy cycle and there are techniques and meds (temporary) that can help you reset this for you.

Have you tried Valerian root? Smells bad (like dog poo). But it helps me stay asleep. I also fall asleep nicely, but every little thing wakes me up...but I just lay there wishing to fall back asleep. I won't get up and move around...but that's just me and that's probably b/c we've moved so much that I don't feel like I'm ever in my own home.

I love to sleep though. I'll nap for 2-3 hours a day if I have time to. And I love to be in bed by 10:30p after a hot bath and sleep til 6am. But only with the help of a sleep aid like VAlerian will I sleep that long.

I can go on 6 straight hours. I've been known to fall asleep by 7pm and wake up at 2 or 3am and stay awake through lunch. If I go to bed at a decent hour (9 or 10p) I am awake by 5am. I can't sleep past 6am for the life of me, even in the winter....and I hate it.

I was sleeping similarly to you, but because of chronic pain. As the pain lowered it was like I was stuck in that cycle and couldn't break it.

My doctor has prescribed some medication (melatonin stopped working)...now if I take my medication. I sleep from 11pm to 6am...sometimes up at 5am. Without medication, three hours then up the rest of the night.

Go see your doctor, no matter the issue he/she can help you.

I sleep 3-7 hours currently 6 days a week and 12-18 1 day a week.

Typically I go to bed between 1am & 4am and get up @ around 830
One day a week I go to bed about 7pm and get up around noon the next day. Sometimes I'll crash at 5 or 6 am and get up at 8 or 9.
In the winter I go to bed between 7pm & 9pm and get up at 4am. But I've just spent 10 hour snowboarding and 3 hours driving.

That's been my "normal" for about 3 years (my son is 8)

I now also wake up every couple hours to check on his breathing (since Feb).

I've never had a problem with interupted sleep (nursing, O2 checks, etc.) but I have a MAJOR problem if I don't get to sleep myself out at least once a week.

Bed around 10pm and up at 6am. I am pretty habitual about my sleep. If you want better sleep, I would suggest going to bed a little earlier. Same as babies, if they are overly tired it is harder to get to sleep and stay asleep.
