How Does the Easter Bunny Deliver His Basket to Your House?

Growing up the Easter Bunny would always leave a loaded basket on the foot of my bed so I'd see it when I woke up in the morning. I would go through it and put all the goodies in a pile, then take my basket of grass downstairs to look for all the colored eggs.

After my daughter was born, I had a hard time shopping without her for a few years due to lack of family or friends nearby and a husband who worked late, so we started a new tradition that we still keep up even though I could totally slip away to shop alone now. We go shopping together and she picks out all the things she would like to have for Easter. I make a budget and we shop until the money is gone. (Sometimes she'll have to make some hard decisions because of the prices of many of the things she wants but she's got a pretty good grip on it now.) Then we put the things away until Easter Eve.

On the night before Easter, we'll pull out all the goodies and hide them all around the house, sort of like a reverse hunt for the Easter Bunny. She giggles and runs around trying to find the best hiding spots to trick the bunny. After she goes to bed, I hunt up all the gifts, arrange them in a basket for her and leave it on the foot of her bed, then sneak back downstairs to hide all the eggs for her to hunt in the morning. When she wakes up she goes through her whole basket to see if she managed to trick the Bunny and hide something even he couldn't find but the bunny hasn't missed anything yet. ;)

How does the Easter Bunny visit your family? Where does he leave his goodies?

Easter Bunny comes at night when they are sleeping. He hides their basket so when they wake up they have to find it. This year he needs to hide DS's basket somewhere other than the tub, as that one was accidently used a few times in a row. This year that sucker is going to be really hidden. LOL

If you veer to far from tradition then they may have a weird time talking about it in school.

We hide the Easter basket as well. My husbands family didn't do this tradition so he thinks it's weird, but he doesn't complain and goes along with it:) I grew up waking up on Easter morning and hunting for my basket. My husband woke up and all the baskets were on the kitchen table and his mom made a nice Easter brunch.

In my family, the Easter Bunny always came on Saturday before Easter out of respect for what Christ did for us.

We hid the eggs downstairs and let the littlest of the kids go first so that everyone got a chance to find some eggs. We all gathered around the table as a family and decorated the eggs the night or two before. It was a nice family activity. We usually hid 6 eggs per child. The child that found the most eggs got a prize. Each child got an empty basket to hold the eggs they found and a basket of toys and goodies left for them on the table or furniture, depending on my wife's feelings at the time.

Good luck to you and yours.

I always hide the Easter basket. It's fun! My ex husbands family used to do this, so we followed the tradition.

My favorite Easter was the one where the rabbit tied a string to each of our baskets (I was 1 of 4) and we had to untangle the strings and follow them to our individual baskets.

My folks were always very good at hiding all the decorating supplies. I need to get a few more blue totes so that the easter stuff matches the Christmas totes and they won't recognize any of the "other" gear.

I love the idea of a reverse hunt though! How cute is that!

Very creative! Love it!

I'm not that imaginative! I have the kids leave their empty baskets out on the living room floor the night before and in the morning they are full of goodies.

One year though, I thought I'd get a head-start and fill the baskets early. Only, I did it too late at night and forgot about them. The next morning I heard my then 6 year old son.... wow! The Easter bunny came early!!! He still reminds me every year about the time the Easter bunny came early and why do I think that happened? lol

Cute!!! I love it.

We use the same basket and plastic eggs every year. As the kids have gotten older they have noticed them around the house in the decoration boxes. Because of this we set out the empty baskets and eggs on the table for the Easter Bunny. As the kids sleep the Easter Bunny visit and fills up the eggs and basket so in the morning the are full and on the table at home.

Sometimes we make much smaller baskets (that can hold 1 or 2 things) and hide them for the kids to find along with the eggs.

Very creative idea~

We put his basket together and then hide it somewhere in the house. My parents always hid our baskets and it was fun searching the house in the morning... plus it buys us time to make coffee!

We do an egg hunt at my SIL's house every year, so he empties his basket before church so it's ready for Aunt Wendy's house!

thanks for sharing your creative idea!

The Easter Bunny would put the baskets "somewhere" in the living/dining room. It's always had to be somewhere the dogs couldn't get into them. :)

I think your tradition is very sweet!!!! We don't really have one. We have a basket for our son that we give him Easter morning and then he hunts eggs. I guess we're not very imaginitive, LOL. But he just got a real bunny (his first pet) 2 weeks ago so maybe that will be the NEW Easter Bunny tradition. We'll tell him Mr. Stickers (that's what he named him) hides the eggs.

The Easter baskets are full Saturday night after they are asleep and are sitting on the couch waiting for the kids to wake up and get them. They go thru their baskets and see what they got, then they take their baskets and look for hidden eggs. We are christian so we also dress up for church and remind the kids the "real" reason for Easter. =)

This will be our sons second Easter, but first one where ww will really do anything. I think we will hide eggs and a basket outside if the weatherbcooperates.

Growing up my Dad always took my brother and I for a long walk and to thw playground at a local school to make sure we wouldn't see the bunny. He always came while we were gone and as soon as we got.home we could start searching. My mom stayed home and.never once saw the bunny. There would bw eggs and our baskets hidden. There.was a basket for each of my parents as well. In our baskets or an egg with our name on it there was also a note feom the Easter Bunny.

I love your tradition. What a great idea.
