How Do You Say Gnocchi?

I am sitting here amazed you asked how to pronounce something to a bunch of people that can only type. I am also impressed at how well people managed with the obvious handicap. :p

ETA ~ I come from an Italian family, so we eat lots of them, so I've always known how to pronounce it... but my son also loves Curious George, and the chef's cat on that show is also named Gnocchi, so I hear it all the time when my son watches that show! LOL

I always thought is was pronounced like.....No-Key.

"nyokee"--they're potato dumplings. Mmm!

ETA:
The "gno" makes a "nyo" sound with a silent "g".
The "cch" is pronounced as a hard "k".
The "i" is an "ee" sound as in "tree".

Nyaw-kee. Like knockie but with a little 'y' after the "n"....I'm Italian too!

nyoa-key..............the o is sharp, the a is soft (thats the Italian accent in it) most people say it "no-key"

GN in Italian takes the sound like ONION.. so say onion, then GNocchi..

Phonetically you would pronounce it "Knee-yo-key." Yummy!!
