How Do You Know When You're Ovulating?

I just asked a question earlier about if I ovulated but I didn't get the right response. So let me ask this, What are your ovulation signs? Do you get the egg white discharge? For how many days do you have it? Is it normal to strart having light cramping about 4 days after ovualtion? Could that be a sign of pregnancy? I want to get pregnant, haven't had a period since my last baby due to breastfeeding (she's 13 months and has been completely weaned for almost 2 weeks now) Been having unprotected sex this whole year! LOL Think I might have ovulated on Frida the 1st. We had sex on Thursday the 31st. Started having light cramping yesterday. So any answers to the above questions would be great! thanks!!

What can I do next?

I am done having babies but if you're trying and nothing else is working, buy the Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor. It tells you exactly when you are ovulating. When using it for my 2nd pregnancy, I knew exactly when I was ovulating without even looking at it, but did look after a few days just to confirm.

Buy or borrow from the library 'taking charge of your fertility' and you will have so much info about your cycle. But to answer your question I get the discharge thatngradually increases then I get crampy when ovulate. happens within 3-4 days.

I've been in the same situation as you a couple of times...I never got my period back until my babies were done nursing and I didn't use birth control for the whole year. I had to wait until I got a period, though, and then immediately got pregnant each time. This is how I could tell ovulation: the white discharge lasted four days and then went completely dry. Day before dryness, I had a pain on one side or the other for about three hours (this is when the egg breaks through into the fallopian tube). I always watched for that pain and could tell when I was ovulating, but some can't. This most recent time however, I was pretty sure I ovulated on day 10 instead of day 14 and when they measured my baby, sure enough, he was four days ahead of schedule. Good luck to you, there's nothing I love more than babies!

definitely do the ovulation calculator.... I think it's about 11 days after your period is over that you start (I could be wrong). I've noticed that around the O time I will get a bit cramp and have the clear discharge. I think I read that once you get the discharge, it's past the ovulation time where the egg is released. Go on BabyCenter and read up on it. Once you track your cycle, you will know what is going on with your body.

Some women do have cramping during ovulation. My only sign is the "egg white discharge" and a lot of it. In my case, the cramping was a sign of pregnancy but I only got it 2 weeks later.

I usually have several days of discharge but only 2-3 of the "egg white" consistency. Often after intercourse one will have seminal residue. It has the same egg white consistency but doesn't really last as long and after urinating and wipeing it shouldn't appear. Good luck ttc.

My body never followed the "rules." My discharge was several days before ovulation and minimal at that, and the pee sticks wouldn't get a reading. So I got the digital ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor, which uses smaller pee sticks, and that worked; it was sensitive enough to capture my hormone readings and it turned out I was ovulating a day late (according to the calendar rule of thumb). You might want to use the regular pee sticks rather than the digital, b/c the digital one you have to set it when your period starts, but you haven't had a period.

I agree about Taking Charge of Your Fertility. You'll learn how to track your symptoms/signs to pinpoint when you are actually ovulating.

Personally, I get the eggwhite discharge about 5 days before I ovulate. I cramp heavily on the day I ovulate, then have smaller cramps for several days (sometimes all the way to my period).

So, short answer, you could have ovulated later than you thought, or you could be pregnant... only time will tell!

I get cramps. If you really want to track your ovulation, get a book or do some research on Natural Family Planning. They have great ideas on charting your cycle.

I have cramping only when my right side ovulates. No white discharge for me.

The only other way I can tell (well really how THE MAN can tell) is that my inside wetness turns silky silky smooth! Totally tell-able! Other than being really in the mood and everything feels better ;)
