Ok for fun anyone have any interesting stories of how they met their better half?
When I met Andy I was 1.5 years out of a bad marriage going to college to make a good life for my DD and I and I did NOT want anything to do with a LTR. I met him in a bar one night, we talked and laughed and he gave me his number which i threw away on the way home b/c I did not call guys I met in bars. The next day I was driving about a mile from where I lived with my parents when i lost brakes in my car. I stopped and went to the nearest house to use their phone to call mom and who opens the door but Andy! I couldn't get a hold of my parents so Andy took a look at the car. It needed brakes. We spent the rest of the day changing brakes on my car. Turns out We lived a mile apart our whole lives and never met. I even graduated w his younger sister. We are 5 years apart and when you are young that is like a lifetime. IWe started something but I warned him I didn't want anything to serious and he said the same cause he just got out of a marrige also. 5 months later I got prego w our now 4 y/o. I didn't move in untill after the baby was born, we were still both denying the inevitable for a bit. Now we also have a 2 y/o son and i couldn't be happier. He is the greatest I love him dearly. Never finished college, maybe someday... Funny when i was growing up I always dreamed of being a sahm and having the life i live now. Then after my divorce i gave up on that amazing how life works out. Whats your story/

What can I do next?

We met at a horse show, and neither one of us likes horses.

My BFF's hubby was watching her kids, so she had some free time. She had signed up to work the concession stand for the volunteer fire dept at a local horse show. So she aksed me to come along and help out at the concession stand, and we were planning on doing some shopping later.

It was unseasonably cold that day, and my hands were ice cold. One of the fireman who was also working came over and took my hands to warm them up. After the concession stand, another fireman invited everyone over to his house. So we all went and ............ we've been married 18 years and have 2 kids.

We met in college. We had the same major and worked at the same place. I dated/lived with his friend for about a year while he dated all the girls in town (it was a small town). We were good friends for 1.5 years. When we were both single again he chased me for three months dating no one else - I was a bit leery of him. We had a bet on a Cowboy game. If I won I got a back massage - I don't remember what he would have received b/c I won! We fell asleep on the couch after the back massage. The next morning I looked up at him and he kissed me...18 years later and two kids we're doing great!

A friend of ours spent a year trying to get us to meet. He kept telling me that he's Catholic, and a Trekkie, ergo, we're perfect for each other. He was telling my hubby the same. We were both like "yeah, Jimmy, whatever" and finally he got me to go with him to a renaissance festival....and less than a year later we were married on the Bridge of the Enterprise at Star Trek: the Experience in Las Vegas. I guess all I needed was a Catholic Trekkie. :-)

Unofficially, we met when my college roommate was interviewing other people to room with after I was to move across country after college, he was a friend of a friend of ours. I moved, hated it, was horribly homesick, and moved back within a month. Something kept pulling me back to my hometown, so I hopped on a train and came home. The second day I was home, I was at a bar where I regularly hung out to see live bands, he was there, saw me, came over introduced himself and that night he invited me over to his apartment with some other friends to listen to Grateful Dead tapes. I didn't like the Dead at all, but went because I thought he was so cute and fun. I ended up sleeping on his couch and we were inseparable (no kissing or anything else) for two months. We slept together, I got pregnant, he broke up with me, and a month later I found out I was pregnant. I waited until he got back from seeing a Phish tour, called him, met him for breakfast and told him I was pregnant. He asked me to move in with him that day and I did. I gave him a total out about the pregnancy--he could walk away from us with no strings attached and I wouldn't ask him for anything, since I had made the decision to keep the baby without talking to him about it. He was horrified that I thought he wouldn't want to be involved. As well, he later told me he was going to call me when he returned from Tour to try to patch things up b/c he couldn't stop thinking about me :)

The baby was born the following year, and we got married when that baby was almost 2yo. We went on to have three more children and have been together for 17 years now. We've had our ups and downs, but we are the happiest we've ever been, now. He has supported us totally, allowing me to be a SAHM most of those years, although I've worked PT jobs here and there. We are the only couple we know that had an unplanned pregnancy like that and ended up happily married. Our commitment to our family and children trumped any problems we've ever encountered. He's my soulmate and best friend and I feel truly blessed to have him in my life.

I had just started dating after being divorced for a year. An aquaintance had given my biz card (I'm an insurance agent) to Jason who sells Aflac, thinking we could send each other business. Jason called me and asked me to lunch to discuss business (that was 10/10/07). We went to lunch that day and then chatted occasionally over the next few months when we sent each other business. Then on Friday afternoon at about 3pm on Jan 18, 2008, he called to give me a referral of his client needing health insurance. Just happened to be the day I took my ex to court to make him see our kids and pay child support. During our conversation he asked what I was doing that weekend...nothing...he asked me out for breakfast and the rest is history! We met on 10/10/07, engaged on 10/10/08 (we didn't know it was exactly a year from meeting until about 5 months later!!) and we got married on 10/10/09. He is one in a million and I thank God every day for him. We are a blended family of 5 and our saying is "We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!"

Do you listen to country music? Heard the song, "The Farmer's Daughter"? Well, that's kind of my story - lol - or at least it reminds me of my story...

Background: I live in a little house next door to my parents. My dad is a jack of all trades kind of guy, and he was looking to do some bigger outside jobs 2 summers ago. And he needed a hand. :)

My fiance was a friend/acquaintance of my dad's through a mutual friend who they both help out with his race car and go on racing trips together. My dad has known my fiance for years. Anyhow, my fiance is a lot like my dad in that he knows how to do all kinds of manly stuff, and is just a work horse, in general. (Such wonderfully strong shoulders he has... ;)

My fiance had been laid off from his job, so my dad, needing a strong man with a truck (queue The Farmer's Daughter - lol) asked him if he could spend some time around our house helping him out with some jobs...

So as the summer days went on, I'd come home from work to see my now fiance in my driveway, busting up concrete, or shoveling gravel, or pulling out tree stumps, etc., all sweaty, shirt off... yes, I'm smiling just remembering it. :) I'd bring out some cold drinks, or we'd sit and eat popsicles in the summer heat. And "as the days got shorter, our talks got longer..." (the song again... :) he started sticking around later in the evenings, playing out in the yard with me and my son, or sitting on the porch swing talking until it was time for me to take my son in to get ready for bed.

I remember it getting to a point where I'd be home, waiting to see if he'd be coming by that day, and when he'd pull in the driveway, I'd feel a big sigh of relief, like ok, now everything was right in the world. It was a good feeling.

So a race was coming up, a local one, that we could all go to. Mind you, I hadn't been to a race in years, at least since my son had been born. But we decided to go to this one... :) While there, my now fiance shuttled me and my son back and forth from the track to the pits on his quad so we didn't have to walk - quite the gentleman - lol - and I distinctly remember him reaching back and putting his hand on my leg. :) Ahhhh, those subtle first touches... :)

Well, that night, when we got back from the race, it was late, and he came by my house... and came in. That was the first time he came in. And we kissed. Actually, we sat next to one another on my couch, and he put his hand on my thigh, and I kissed him... I guess I couldn't resist. lol And the rest, as they say, is history.

Thanks for asking this question... I loved reading everyone's stories, and I really enjoyed remembering mine. :)

What a fun question!! We met on a telephone dating service, YA I KNOW HOW BIZARRE. We hooked up on the dating service and talked for about a month, then we met in person at the movies. I met him there, I refused to let him pick me up. I had to keep my safety in mind. I wouldn't even let him walk me to my car after the movies, :) because I didn't want him to follow me home. A girl's gotta watch herself ya know.
Anywho, he kept calling me after our first date and we've been together 11 years with an 8-yr old son and about to adopt 2 more.

I met my husband, at work. Well, I didn't know he was working there when I met him. He was in the break-room waiting, for the boss to come get him. I walked in the break-room (thinking he was waiting for a spouse, or someone to meet for lunch) looking for painkillers. I had a terrible headache. I looked in the first aid kit, but couldn't find any. I saw Imodium and didn't know what it was, it was in one of those single packets with no explanation. I asked him if he knew what Imodium was. He said "It's for diarrhea. Well, not for getting it, for having it. I mean, getting rid of it." I was like, "Oh, well I don't need that. The Imodium, not the diarrhea.I don't need that either though." Then there were some awkward sheepish laughs. I saw him at work the next day and we were engaged about a year later.

I was at work in Berkeley in 1989 when the Loma Prieta earthquake happened. The company had a large tank of caustic material that they manufactured give way. My husband to be worked for a company that did enviornmental hazard clean up and he came to clean up the material. He asked me to a local Mexican restaurant but we were too busy. He made it up to me the following weekend with a trip to wine country for a picnic. He actually made brie and cucumber sandwiches. We got married in 1993 and now have 3 kids and a business. Wow, how time flies!

I met my husband at a high school football game when I was a senior. We started flirting during 2nd quarter and I missed the call to march out with the marching band for our field show. When I figured that out, I jumped up, stripped off my sweats, handed them to my husband and said, "Hold my clothes! I'll be back!" I raced off to join the band and he was right where I left him when I got done.

I did ask him out after the game but he declined. We met again six months later and started going out. We've been together 24.5 years, married for 20, with two strapping sons, 16 and 12. Life is good!

I went to college with my husband's sister in Maryland, so for the first 3 years of knowing her, I heard all about her family in NY and especially about her brother with the "heart of gold". Finally, our senior year, her 2 brothers came down for a weekend to visit her. She introduced us, and we all went out for dinner in a big group that night - she orchestrated it so that I sat next to goldenhearted brother. Haha. We got along great, but I never thought I'd see him again because he lived so far away. Also, he was my friend's brother, which seemed like it had all kinds of awkward potential. Well, after that night we started corresponding and talking on the phone, and a long-distance relationship was born! We dated for 5 years, still living in different states the whole time, before finally deciding to get married. That was 23 years and 2 children ago. Life has taken all kinds of twists and turns since then, but the one constant has been my husband. He really and truly is my best friend.

My hubby and I met when we were freshmen in HS. We started dating as sophomores and have been together ever since. None of this off & on stuff either. We graduated in 2000 & moved in together that September. Feb of 2001 we got engaged and married in September of 2003. We started trying to get pregnant right away but it took a 1200 mile move and 3.5 years to get it done. October of 2007 we had a beautiful little girl, Emily. We have been trying for baby #2 ever since then to no avail, so far. :) I keep hope though and am happy.

Try to follow me here... My youngest daughters grandmother lived with me for a while. She was dating this guy named Tim. The entire time they were dating, Tim kept telling me 'my best friend has a son that you have to meet'. I looked him up on facebook, and thought 2 things: 1, he has a girlfriend, and 2, he's 12 years older than me! No way! A few weeks later, Tim was out of the grandmothers life, and I got a friend request from 'the best friends son'... A little later, he posted something publically about 'Newly single, going out for drinks'... I wrote to him 'Great! I'm single too, let's meet up'... WELL I ended up going out with ANOTHER guy that night (just a friend) and had no intentions of meeting this facebook guy. Later that evening, I got into an arguement with my guy friend, and he got pissy and said 'fine, I'll leave you at the next bar and call my girlfriend to come get you'... well, I was laughing, because the bar he was taking me to, I knew this new guy was at!! So the second I walked in, I met my now BF, and we spent every single day together after that... moved in with each other within 4 months, and have been together for almost 4 years now :)

I met my hubby at my best friend's wedding. At the bridal shower a few weeks earlier, her fiance showed up with his BIL(my hubby's best friend). Her fiance and I get along great...kind of like we've known each other forever. Both the guys said that Chad would be perfect for me. They introduced us at the wedding, we talked until 3am and we have a perfect marriage, with a perfect daughter, working on another one! I do remember that the day after the wedding, I was talking to my friend and her new hubby and I thanked them for introducing me to my future husband. I guess sometimes you just know!!!

Sweet story!

We met at a Church activity.

I had just gotten out of a rough relationship, and told him I wasn't looking to settle down, but I wasn't wanting to date for fun and games either, so he'd better leave me alone altogether if he just wanted to goof around. I seriously was hoping to scare him off... but it didn't work. ;)

We told each other our 5 year life plans on out first date!

We moved the Germany, my first duty station together and had a kidlet #1 after being married for almost 14 years. We're now married 20 years and still going strong.
