Hi Moms. I'm planning for my wedding anniversary and Mother's Day..they both fall during Mother's Day weekend. I've never done anything for either for the past 3 years and I think I deserve a nice relaxing Mother's Day.

Can anyone recommend a place to stay near Monterey Bay Aquarium? I haven't been there in a very long time. We as a family haven't been there yet. Oh! We are a family of 6. Any suggestions on connecting rooms as well?

So, if anyone can help me plan on the hotel, suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you all in advance.

What can I do next?

We stayed at the Travel lodge when we went last year. There pictures fooled us. Rooms were decent but parking was terrible (pricing was pretty good especialy dring the summer when we went). We were across the street from a Dennys though which made it convenient to go eat late. I think the aquarium was like 15 min away ( but I think its because we got confused on some directions that were givien). They have connecting rooms there and serve breakfast. We stayed there for 3 days and spent one day at the aquarium and the next day we drove to Santa Cruz and spent the day at the board walk. Lots of fun especially if you have a big family.
Have fun!

We were just there this past weekend! There are some really cool new exhibits right now too featuring sea horses, flamingos and sea turtles. Unfortunately the Outer Bay exhibit is closed until this summer for a bit of revamping. We took out 4 month old, he slept through it, but my husband and I had a great time!

We stayed at The Intercontinental Clement. It can be a little pricey, but right now they're in the off season and we waited until a few days before to make the reservation and were able to get a good deal ($189/night) on the room from kayak.com. The staff there is super friendly, and the hotel itself is amazing. I highly recommend it. I also recommend eating at the restaurant in The Clement, "The C" we had dinner there and everyone was super nice and the food is AMAZING. They follow the aquarium's seafood watch standards for sustainable seafood, I had the swordfish and it was the best dish I've had in a long time! Also, despite looking like a fancy restaurant they were kid friendly (had high chairs and all) and a lot of the staff stopped by our table to say hello to our son. :)

Kayak.com has some other really good deals on other hotels in the area too, but I totally recommend The Clement!

Have a great Mother's Day/Anniversary!

Embassy Suites around there is good for kids bc of this huge lobby w/ fish and glass elevators etc. There's also a good playground a quick walk away. Rooms were less than impressive though...

If there is an Embassy Suites that would be my first choice, so easy and fun with kids. I don't know what your budget is but I remember staying at a very nice Doubletree there years ago. Have fun!

If you have a big budget The InterContinental Hotel is beautiful, right next door to the Bubba Gump restaurant and about 2 blocks from the aquarium. It's right on Cannery Row.
Last time we went we stayed at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort & Spa on Del Monte Golf Course, although it was kind of nice it was far away from the aquarium and had no AC. The note in the room said to open your windows, but there was a fog horn going off and noisy guests at about 2am.
I LOVE Monterey, have a great time!

We got there all the time. We always stay at the MOnterey Marriott. 5 minute drive to the aquarium, but the rooms, food and location near the wharf, food places, shops makes it ideal for kids. They have connectIng rooms and suites. It's not cheap, but u can find deals. Also, it has air conditioning and almost all the hotels there don't.
