Can you recommend a hotel in New York City? I think I'd like to be around the Time Square area of near Central Park. We'd like to go this holiday season, after they turn on all the city Christmas lights. Also, please let me know if there is any place you would NEVER stay.

What can I do next?

Hi, my hubby and I went last summer. We've been to NY many many times so we knew what to expect. We stayed at Comfort Inn at Times Square. It was super cheap because we wanted to spend our money on great seats at big shows. If you've never been...Times Square is very loud 24/7. If that would bother you, don't stay right in Times Square but somewhere in Midtown. The W in Midtown is nice. Have a great time!

This summer we stayed at Hotel AKA Times Square. It was WONDERFUL. B/c we have 2 kids all of the nicer properties wanted us to have 2 rooms...forget it. A friend recommended AKA. They are apartment buildings converted into hotels. Our "room" had 2 bedrooms and a kitchen and, this is the best part, a washer and dryer. Tub, dining room table, 2 big TVs with DVD player. If you tell them that you do not want daily maid service it knocks a chunk off the bill also. There is no restaurant in the hotel but there are restaurants all around you. And, you can walk across the street to the market for milk and cereal so you can save a ton on breakfasts. They also have pastry and coffee in the lobby. It is compact and modern. It is clean and the employees are very friendly. And you are about 200 feet from the toys r us on times square, but just far enough off of it so that it is not too noisy or overly bright in the rooms. Google them. It was the perfect solution for our family.

My daughter and I went for a weekend a couple years ago. We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria. It was such a treat, a beautiful place to stay.

We were only there 2 nights, we had a whirlwind trip full of all the fun stuff and great memories.

If you are going with the kids...the Doubletree Times Square is a great all suite property. Location can't be beat and it is a good value. Other hotels that are in that area which are not all suite but very family friendly as well, The Crowne Plaza, The Marriott Marquis and The Renaissance. All have awesome Times Square views and at walking to distance to so much. I ♥ NY !!!

We are from NJ and having company a lot to visit us, we would stay in NY. Time Square area sometimes. Westin, Best Western and Hilton are good.

I just got back from NYC on Monday from my annual trip. My best friend and I go every year and so love it. We stayed at the Iroquois Hotel on W. 44th. We hadn't stayed at this one before and found it to be so much closer to the theaters and Times Square than the hotel we normally use. The room was significatly smaller than our other hotel; but, the wonderful beds made up for it. And, hey, it's NYC -- ALL hotel rooms are small!

We will definitely stay here again on our next trip.

Have a great time!
