So What Happened?

So after going to expedia, orbitz, hotels.com I went directly to Best Western.com (thats the best hotel in town) They said the rates were only $59. SO i was like ya!! I found something even more reasonable..but I couldnt book the reservation. I called the number listed and she said the $59 rate is for only one person and $69 would be the rate for us. Then I took the sugestion of the mamasourcers' and said is that with the AAA discount. She said it would be $62.10 per night with that. So she gave me the discount and I'm not even a AAA member!! Thanks for all the great comments it was helpful..Happy 4th of July, Many blessings to you and your family.

Try Hotwire.com Supposedly, they offer real low rates. We've never used them.

I've always found better deals by going directly to the hotel websites after Orbitz and Travelocity have given me a good idea. I was trying to give Priceline.com a whirl last February but I had to cancel the trip the week before.

There's cheaphotels.com too

Howard Johnson has a travel rewards program that will give you a rebate on your first trip.

Hi T.

I don't know were you are wanting to go, but $67 really does not sound very high. I hate to say it, but if you want a nice, clean hotel in a good part of any town or city your going to pay a little more. If $67 is a special, and the hotel is a name you know and it is located in a good part of town I would go with it. You might try Hotels.com, orbitz is a good site as well as travelocity, and expedia. You can also go right to the hotels site. I would do that because more times then not they will have pictures of the hotel and that way you can see if it is a place you want to stay with the kids for a few nights.

Also, just so you know when you book a hotel either on line or over the phone you can just say you have AAA. I do have AAA and I have never been asked to show my card. There was a time with a rental car company that asked to see it, and I happen to not have my card with me and they gave me the discount anyway.

You might also think about hotels that have free breakfast, and free meals for the kids, thats a good way to cut back on cost. Holiday inn is a good hotel for kids, very kid friendly.

Well, good luck and enjoy your vacation.

Hotwire.com is great. You dont always get to see your hotel name, but you get to see the rating. We have used it tons for lots of hotels and flights and we always check there. Good luck!

I haven't read down so I don't know if there are other responses but definitely checkout out priceline.com; Do the name your own price. Every time I do it I get the hotel room for 1/2 of what the other sites have the sale price as. For example if orbitz has a deal for a hotel at $80 I usually get it for $40 with name your own price.

Hi T.,

We always use motel 6. I know they are not fancy, but all the ones we have stayed at are at least clean. Go to Motel6.com and see if those rates help you with your travel arrangements.

Oh, I forgot to tell you, sometimes there are hotels that are not on the internet that are not in a hotel chain. If you stay at motel 6 for a couple of nights, then the first day, check around and see if there is anything else. If not, then you still have your reservations, but if you do find a mom and pop hotel, then you can at least ask if they have any rooms.

Have a good time!

I always look at them all before making plans - www.hotels.com, www.travelocity.com, www.expedia.com, www.orbitz.com, and sometimes I even book through www.hotwire.com - the only downside to hotwire is they don't tell you the name of the hotel until you purchase it. They do give you a star rating and if you know the area you can pretty much guess by the ammenities what hotel it is. We actually booked a trip through hotwire in June and we were very pleased with the hotel. Another tip - when booking through these sites always read the hotel reviews :) Hope this helps :)

Expedia is usually the cheapest I've found. However, $67.00 a nigth during a busy holiday is probably a pretty good price for a nice hotel depending on where you stay. Remember you are in peak travel season.
