Hi Moms,
I am currently expecting our 2nd child in July 2007 and unfortunately we have Sierra Health Insurance so will be unable to go to any of the Sunrise hospitals(Mtn View, Southern Hills, etc)as of Jan 2007 - has anyone else recently gone to other hospitals (Summerlin, Valley, UMC, etc.) that is covered under Sierra? How was your experience there? Thank you for sharing in advance. C.

What can I do next?

DONT GO TO UMC!!!!!
I went there with my daughter and had an ok time but they could have been more careing. for one thing. I'm as white as can be and they gave me all my welcome info in spanish and did'nt help me much at all. plus when it came time to sign the papers for the birth cirtificate they made me WALK down to the first floor and hand over paperwork.THAT WAS THE MOST RIDICULUS THING I EVER HAD TO DO. i had just given birth and they did'nt even have a wheelchair for me. I had to walk everywhere. no one would bring papers to me and I had to get out of bed to get my food and things because no one was ever around. plus I had to change my own bedding and that was stupid because what are nurses for?!?!

with my son I went to valley and they were great. I highly recomend them. They did'nt have many patients when I went in becuase I had to be induced with my son and the nurse stayd in the room with me almost the whole time then after I had him witch was at aroung 8 AM they got busy but they were great. there was always a nurse around. they would check up on you at least every hour. the rooms were very quiet unlike umc. and I had my own room unlike umc. very peaceful and helpful. they gave me alot of stuff and were always around when i needed them. but I did have my room at the end of the hall witch was bad because they forgot me when it came to meals but that's ok they made up for it. just make sure you dont get the room at the end of a hall and you'll be fine. Pluse they brought all my paperwork to me and it was wonderful. I'd like to try a diferant hospital with my next child only becuase I try new things but if it came down to it I'd chose valley over all the rest.

Hello C.!
I had my son in Summerlin Hospital in November and had a wonderful experience. My husband and I were both impressed with the nurses there... they were really busy the week we were there, but we were always taken care of. I had my own room, it was nice and quiet... and the food wasn't too bad, either! They also gave us a huge rubbermaid toy chest that had some baby stuff in it before we left, which was a fun little surprise. Congrats and good luck!

I had a last minute c-section and like i said if I were to have another little one i would go there. we had nurses fill up or bags with formula and diapers wipes you name it! well hope this makes ur choice a little easier

Hi C.! I had the best birthing experience at Valley. As a matter of fact, the nurse's name that delivered my baby was C.. She was kind and patient and I would definitely go there again. My best friend delivered at St. Rose on St.Rose Pkwy and Eastern and she was very happy with her experience there as well. I have heard both good and bad about Sunrise, so don't be too disappointed that you can't deliver there. I would personally pick either Valley or St. Rose. Good Luck!
