If you've done some research on what teaching approach and you plan to use a classical approach or Charlotte Mason, you'll get alot of mileage out of this website compiled of tried and true text books. Read the host's explaination and history of how she found and gathered these textbooks first, so you understand the value of using these texts (some are from the 1920s!). Even if you use a boxed curriuculum, these resources are invaluable.

Have you checked with your local public school district offices? Some school districts offer online homeschool programs and provide computers, textbooks, etc. at no cost, as it's an extension of the public school system.

Congratulations on your decision to homeschool. I have been homeschooling for 6+ years and enjoy our lives so much. If you haven't already, be sure to check out what your state's requirements are for homeschooling.

Your local library is a great resource. I don't know what the ages of your child/children are or what style of education you're embracing at this time, so it's a little hard to give good direction. If you haven't heard of the Charlotte Mason style of education, I would encourage you to check it out. You can look on the website www.simplycharlottemason.com and it gives great information about what's appropriate for each age/grade level. Charlotte Mason believed in educating through great books. It is what I follow, but I didn't start until my daughter was in 3rd grade (started homeschooling her in the first grade). There are lots of great websites. You can do unit studies which incorporate several areas of learning in one subject. A great place to look at those is www.currclick.com. There is so much more I could say, but it will turn into a novel... :) If you'd like to send me a private message, I would be happy to visit with you as much or as little as you'd like!

Blessings to you in your new adventure. Please keep in mind it takes awhile to get your groove in the homeschool arena. (my daughter who is reading while I'm typing just said "but it's worth it".) I would also encourage you to join a local homeschooling group. There are usually fun group activities, field trips and most important a lot of wisdom and support from Moms in all stages of their homeschooling career.

I would check out the website freely educate. There are several free curriculum but you will need to print it out yourself...

Someone on here told me about K12. Just google it and each state is kinda different. Like here, in OK, they don't start until 1st grade but everything is free! They send you all your books, supplies, and everything and you enroll through them. (it's part of public school, just at home) You have some work that's done online and some workbooks/reading books but probably the older grades are more online. I am going to do this once my kids are old enough! I was going to start my 2 daughters this coming year but they don't have kindergarten or pre-K here. :o(

your library is a great resource. find homeschool groups that are local to you and get hooked up. our groups are constantly swapping, borrowing and recommending.
