I am wondering if anyone in the Twin Cities has anyone they love to help my family this cold and flu season. We have been a healthy family until this year when my son began preschool. It has been extremely chalkenging and I am looking for help. Thank you.

Can't help you find someone, I live in the Dallas area. But I highly recommend that you all start taking Vitamin D3 every day. Children should take at least 1000 IU per day and adults 2000 IU's per day. It's helped us SO much. Make sure it's D3 and not just vitamin D. You can also use Elderberry through the flu and cold season as well. If you do start to see cold symptoms you can use a product called Cold calm by Boiron, take it as soon as symptoms start. They also make a wonderful flu product called oscillococcinum.
Hope you find someone that can help you and your family. I applaud you trying to find a safe and healthy way to protect them.
Best Regards,
C.

Elderberry syrup, echinachea golden-seal compound extract/tincture and zinc lozenges are my homeopathic staples for cold and flu season. I don't use anything else. I take echinachea the entire season, and use the elderberry and zinc when I actually do contract something, and it cuts the sick time by at least half. I actually am nursing a pretty bad cold today, I think my immune system was down because I slept with the heat on a few days last week and forgot to run a humidifier. A humidifier and hot beverages are also great for this season. I usually don't take a vitamin C supplement(or any vitamin supplements) because I get plenty of everything in my regular diet. Good luck!

I do the Emergen-C drink packets to keep my electrolytes at the right place. My kids take a gummy vitamin year round. I have not tried the elderberry but have heard that it really helps. We also use a neti-pot for when we do get the first signs of a cold. You use it to irrigate your sinuses with salt water and i also gargle with salt water. Remember to drink lots of water, wash your hands regularly and eat healthy foods. Having kids in school really makes it hard, we had the same thing happen to us once our kids got in school where we weren't sick much before that.

Good luck!

Dr. Hadley! She is a great chiro/ herbalist/ muscle tester. She works out of fusion life spa in Wayzata. She gave me this great recipe for flu/cold season that I will have to look through my archives to find. http://www.learningherbs.com/cold_remedy.html
