I was wondering if any moms here have had a home birth that I could just chat with and get some information from. I'm planning my first birth at home and just would like some local resources/support. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I had a lovely homebirth of my third child back in September. I am also a labor and delivery nurse and graduate nurse-midwifery student. I would be happy to chat with you about homebirth- mine was wonderful! You can send me a message through mamasource if you have specific questions you want to talk about. Good luck!

Hi A.! I have not had my own homebirth, but have assisted at several of them. I am a labor doula. It is really a neat thing. My husband would never go for it. I would not of either with my first 2 girls, but with my son, I was a doula and had been to my first home birth for a client and was so intrigued. My husband was not up for that at all. I am willing to talk to you about it and answer any questions you may have about it. You can PM me if you would like.

There is a monthly Meetup for homebirth (see www.meetup.com) on the north side. Currently there are 2 CNMs (Hillary Keiser and Sarah Simmons) who attend homebirths in the area, plus Homefirst. I think Sarah usually takes July/August off each year. I haven't had one myself (I did have a great natural hospital VBAC birth) but I know many women who have.
