A dear friend of mine in California went home to care for a step-father who is struggling with cancer. I don't know what part of the country he is in, but I am thinking any part of the country will work for this "acting family". Does anyone know of any or know the best place to resource a holistic center for cancer treatment?? I am so thankful for Mamasource because I wouldn't know where to start and some of you have such great experience!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the input! I didn't think she'll mind if I tell you her identity, so you can give her ideas directly through Myspace! Theresa Dern, related to Bruce and Laura Dern, is a member of the Deadwood cast and a graduate of, I think Harvard. So sweet and down to earth, and works for a well-known animal activist at times.I love her so much! Stop by her page and wish her well, she has put her dreams on hold to help her mom care for her family members.

Update: Theresa has specified that her step-dad is in Stage 4 cancer and that her mother is gearing her inquiry on this stage of treatment. Thanks for all the great replies! XO L.

The internet has so many sources of Natural cures for cancers and other diseases. Take some time and go surfing. Truly, there is so much research being done on the cures for cancer Holistically but of course can not be shared with the public because insurance companies would go out of business. I have read about some awesome studies but unfortunately dont remember the site.
How old are your children? There is no reason, each one cannot do their part in keeping up the house. Even if its a small chore...its one you dont have to do. Make a calendar - assign a chore to each child. If the chore is not completed you need to assign a punishment of sorts to it - perhaps no ice cream or treat that day. Children need to be given responsibility but as you do, they also need reinforcement by a reward of some kind. You may use something as simple as - when the chores are done, we will go get ice cream or go to the movies. See what I mean :) Sit down with them and explain what your new agenda has to be because you simply cannot do it alone anymore. Also share the benefits you will provide:) God is always here and always listening. There is no time to give up - your doing fine - you just need a little help - you'll get there :)

What about Cancer Treatment Centers of America? They seem to be good. My dad has cancer himself(in the brain), but the closest CTCA seems a little too far for him.

Hang in there and love those children!!

Good luck!

Sorry to hear about your friend. I would try to find a dr close by but if you couldn't. They Mayo Clinic is a great place and the Drs are terrific and really helpful. My prayers are always with your family and friends.

For you God Bless you for being so strong and doing it on your own. Never give up the end result will be worth it. Make a chart for everyone to help with the chores, make sure you stick with your words for punishment, make sure you always give possitive encouragement and always show love to your children. Keep your head high and be the strong woman you are. My thoughts and possitive prayers are with you and your family.

I heard this saying and think its terrific....You can't choose how you die but you can choose how you live.

Hi L.,
A friend of mine compiled some customer testimonials from other customers with cancer who have benefited from the amazing wellness products at Melaleuca The Wellness Company. I don't know how to send attachments in mamasource but if you send me your email address, I'll forward the document to you right away. Also, I'm hosting a wellness workshop in my home on Monday 3/19/07 @ 7:15pm-8:00pm. I live in Plainfield and you're welcomed to attend if you'd like.
