I was wondering if anybody had any fun games to play on Thanksgiving? I would like to do something a little different this year and maybe have some fun with a game or two. Thanks S.

What can I do next?

We love Mad Gab when we're all together. Another thing we've done is a guessing jar. Each person brings a filled jar of whatever you like to put in it(candy, cookies, marshmallows, money, golf balls/tees). Then everybody guesses on how much is in each jar. The one closest to the number wins the jar. It is fun and you also can get really cute jars at the Dollar Store!

We like to sometimes play games on holidays. Also we like to do puzzles. spingbok puzzles at the Hallmark stores are great. You will need to call them cause not all of them have them. You can also get them online. Good pictures and the pieces are a really good fit and interesting shapes. Also a good idea to have a puzzle caddy to easily remove from table when needed. We just slide it under a bed. My husband made ours out of plywood and put some 1" screen stock for the sides. You just need to make it as big as the largest puzzle size you want to work on. I think 1500 pieces is good. You can finish it in a reasonable amount of time. We also like to play dominos. Especially mexican train. Spades card games in good and uno is good. Enjoy. Hope some of those ideas work for you.

This game is one that we usually play at Christmas, but it's fun anytime. Have everyone bring a small wrapped silly gag gift. It doesn't have to cost much (a roll of toilet paper, a re-gift, dollar store item) Everyone sit in a large circle with the gifts piled in the center. Roll 2 dice and if it lands on a 7 or 11, you get to pick a gift either from the pile or from someone elses pile if they have something that looks interesting to you. We usually play until everyone gets a gift. This is a great game for 1st-4th graders... it sharpens their adding skills by adding the dice dots in their heads. Have fun!

I don't know how active you all care to be or how much room you will have, but when our family gets together...we usually do it on some acreage and we like to play kickball. It is something the parents and kids all enjoy!

One of our family favorites is "Why and Because". You get lots of strips of paper and pass them out to everybody. You pick a topic that is generic, like Food. Then everyone writes a "why" question, and a "because" answer.

Why is Aunt Mitzi's turkey always dry?

Because it drank a martini.

The answer doesn't have to have anything to do with the question. You then collect all the why's in one pile and all the becauses in another. Then everyone pulls one of each at random and reads them out loud. Some of the results are hysterical! Especially if you have a few wiseguys in the crowd. Great game for older kids and adults. Even littler kids will enjoy hearing the "stories" and seeing the grownups cracking up.

Hello,
We started this little thing a few years ago at Thanksgiving. We go around the table and say what we are Thankful for and why. It is always a ton of fun with 7 children to see what they come up with.
have fun.

Bingo is a fun game for everyone to play.

What age group are you wanting....adults or kids. For adults pictionary always seems tobr fun. If you want to mix kids and adults, grab disney pictionary you can use a dvd player for, it's new and looks like fun as well. 'Scene It' is a good one to, it uses your dvd
as well.

How about something like Pictionary with a Thanksgiving Theme?

Or see who can write the longest list of things they are thankful for.

This is not a Thanksgiving game, but just a game we play at holidays and gatherings. It is called Catch Phrase and usually ends up loud, exciting, and with people crying they are laughing so hard.
