Hi there, Mommies!
I am looking for RECOMMENDATIONS or WARNINGS for OB/Gyn Doctors, Pediatricians, and the infamous HMO (my only 2 choices are Colorado Access & Kaiser Thrive).

My DD's current PediaDoc is waaay down South, great private practice Dr., looking for someone closer if possible.
I haven't looked for an OB/Gyn until now, I've been procrastinating.
I prefer private practices or small group practices, just feels more personal overall. I appreciate any & all input, thanks!

What can I do next?

If you have Kaiser I highly recommend Dr. Albert Mehl (pediatrician)- He's at Exempla in Lafayette. He's great and respects and responds to questions. I had another Kaiser Doc in Boulder and just didn't get a good feeling from her. I love Dr. Mehl! Also, of OB/Gyn - Dr. Neva Phair in Boulder.

Hi A.,

I have an 8week old daughter and all of my doctors are at University Hospital, and I love them all. I feel that I was very lucky to find such a great group of doctors for my OB care they also have a group of midwives that I have heard wonderful things about as well. I know that it's a drive, but because my doctors are so great I would have driven 2 hours to get to them if I had too. So if you'd like check them out ###-###-####. I hope this helps.

Hi. I've been very happy with my pediatrician at Kaiser. He is an experienced doctor who takes the time to answer my questions. I haven't had experience with the gynecology department at Kaiser, but the pediatric department is great.

Good luck.

Hi, A.! Not sure where you live, but the Kaiser Rock Creek clinic in Lafayette has some great docs. My OB/GYN there is fabulous; her name is Melissa Dunn. I also like my primary care doc, Michael Feil. He's a D.O.
Good luck!

A.,
Hi there! I just had my baby 5 months ago. I have the infamous HMO as well, Kaiser. My OBGYN is in Boulder, but I live clear out by DIA in Reunion area (104th). Anyway, I absolutely LOVE him. His name is Dr. Jeff Kerr-Layton. He is the BEST OBGYN I have ever had. It is definitely worth the long drive. I highly recommend him, and his staff is wonderful as well. I also wanted to add that he sees Dr. Sorena Kirkegaard at Skyline Kaiser as his Ped and she is wonderful as well.

Good luck,
J.

OUt of all the insurance choices (don't get me started) I like Kaiser the best. Even though you may not always see the same Dr because of emergencies or other things that come up, they always have ALL your information at their fingertips so most of the time they are not coming into the room with zero knowledge of your health history.

Check with the Rock Creek facility. There is a Dr there that is also an active triathelete, and the OBGYNs there are top notch. Not sure if this helps, but nearly every Dr I've talked to there has transferred IN because they didn't like being in private practice and believe they can dispense better medical care via Kaiser than any other HMO/insurance.
GL!

If you want a family dentist try Dr Reiker in Westminster, ###-###-####. My kids and I both now go to him and they love him!!! He has three kids of his own and loves kids.
If you want a specific Pedatric only dentist, try Foothills Pediatrics in Lafayette right off south boulder rd. Both only take like 15 minutes from Broomfield.
At Avista, Try Centennial Valley Womens clinic. I had my obgyn there and they delivered both of my babies. They are located in the building next to Avista Hospital.
Broomfield Family Practice is awesome. Dr Hill there does OBGYN work as well as they have all the basic family health care there as well. I believe they are ###-###-####, they are located right off Midway down from Target.

My kids go to Centennial Valley Pedatrics off of S boulder road for their health care, THEY ARE INCREDIBLE! See you right away, have after hours with Childrens Hospital and I love all the Drs there, especially Evelyn Swanson and Dr Wright! ###-###-####

We have Kaiser also and have had a great experience with our Ped Dr. Zerin at Boulder Baseline clinic. Unlike many Kaiser docs she is not new to the profession. I also like the other doctors we have seen when Dr. Zerin is not available. The nurses at the clinic are all very good with infants/toddlers and the waiting room has a nice play area. Even the front desk people are great & some have made a point to learn my little girl's name and ask how she's doing (we had a run of several visits lately due to a very minor car accident and a reoccuring bad cold). I have honestly been surprised at how pleased I am with our Ped experience (I wasn't expecting much out of HMO world). I did not have a great experience with OB/GYN however and go to my primary care Doc for those issues (Dr Mayhew, in internal medicine also at Boulder Baseline)
