High Risk OB Recs

I currently am 25+weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. I feel that my care was horribly mismanaged with my first pregnancy; I had complications due to pregnancy-induced hypertension/pre-eclampsia.

Now I am seeking a high risk OB with experience in managing hypertensive pregnancies (and crazy moms in post-pre-eclampsia pregnancies!). Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, especially if you have been through a pre-e pregnancy with your caregiver.

Thanks!

I liked DR Horlacher but I asked him "are you going on vacation during that week because I want you to deliver?" he assured me he'd be the one. I delivered a month early and he was nowhere in sight! I had Dr. Dheepa Balakrishnan. She pulled too h*** o* the cord during "gentle traction" and I almost started bleeding too much and they started freaking out-big time! Nurses running around hollering. I asked outright "mom, am I bleeding like this because she yanked on my cord" yeah. So stay away from Balakrishnan.

I second the practice with Dr. Imbody--I see Dr. Thesing. The thing I really like about theirs is that they get you familiar with ALL of the doctors who might be on-call so they're all aware of your situation and I think it helped ease my fears a lot (although I did "luck out" with a planned C-Section so my doctor was definitely there).

I don't know how much of this is the case, but the third doctor there that I went to see was Dr. Moezzi. I didn't go into pre-eclampsia with my daughter, but my bp was starting to go up. One thing that still sticks in my mind that Thesing told me was that I needed to be sure I was a "good girl" (in a nice way :)) and do the things I could to take care of myself because Moezzi does NOT hesitate in the slightest to take any measure necessary to keep down high bp. It could have been a ploy, but I also know that when he came in, my bp was decent and that was the first comment he made to me. :)

Between these three, I haven't seen anything that would make me concerned to recommend them--but obviously, my best knowledge is just Thesing. The whole practice is called Dayton OB-Gyn and they have offices in Centerville between 675 and downtown on 48, at Miami Valley, and there's at least one somewhere farther north around Vandalia (not exactly sure where off the top of my head--haven't been there since college). Not sure which doctors are where and when, but they're only a call away. The # left for Imbody below can get you to any of them.

Good luck!

Good luck!

I would like to recommend Drs. Ghodsi and Imbody. There are several Drs. at the practice and they are all wonderful. Dr. Ghodsi was my primary, but I saw Dr. Imbody often as well for my very high risk pregnancy. They caught my daughters kidney problem in utero and as a result, she is still alive today. It was a condition that would have gone unnoticed if not for their sharp eyes and experience. None of the Drs. hesitated to answer any questions my husband and I had. The nursing staff is beyond friendly. They practice out of Miami Valley, but have offices in Kettering and Centerville. I believe they also have an office in Huber Heights, but can't be sure.
The bed side manner is beyond compare. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I believe that Dr. Ghodsi has moved on, but Dr. Imbody is still there. I no longer see them due to insurance, but when we get pregnant with our second, we're going to pay the out of network difference. The number to call is ###-###-####. Good luck :)
