Has anybody been succesful at conceiving after being told they have high fsh levels? I am getting a referral to a fertility specialist after talking with my ob/gyn but want to know about others' experiences, too. What helped you be succesful? Did you carry to term or not? Did you have to use donor eggs? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have had a few friends who had high fsh levels and went on to have successful pregnancies. I don't know exactly what was done to bring down the levels, since every doctor is different, but they conceived with their own eggs. Good luck and stay positive!

I didn't have high FSH, but I had high AMH (not sure if you've had that tested - it is another, newer method of ovarian reserve.) I personally did herbs, acupuncture, and lots of IVF. But if I were to do it again today, I would start taking DHEA now. A friend who has a similar diagnosis just did an IVF cycle after 4 months of DHEA (it takes 3 months to really start having an effect), and had an incredible response.

I also found the forums at IVFconnections.com to be incredibly helpful.

Good luck to you!

Hi S.,
I had high fsh and got pregnant at 45. If you look through my older posts you will see what I think worked for me. I did fertility treatments with IUI for about 7 cycles with no luck. Fertility doctors only gave me a 1% chance to get pregnant , but I did eventually get pregnant naturally while doing herbs and acupuncture. I don't know if I was just lucky or not, but I tend to believe that it was the natural things that I was doing during that time.
Read through my older posts and let me know if you would like me to share any other info.
Best wishes,
B.

Hi. I had high FSH, at age 33, but I had other issues as well. That doctor's methodology was highly suspect, and she wouldn't run a second test, and referred us to the clinic's donor egg program. I went for a second opinion. It turns out, everything was fine with my eggs, and went on to have twins in our second IVF cycle with a different clinic. I don't know how old you are, but I would look at that doctor's methodology and definitely go for a second opinion. Good luck to you.
