So - I've posted that we are prepping for a drive from MN to FL in April. My son currently sits in a pretty uncomfortable high backed booster.
He's turning 7 in March. He weighs about 60 lbs, and is pretty tall (50 inches at least) for his age. He was measured in 90% last time we were in...
Anyway - we've been talking about getting him a new booster anyway so I'm looking for a recommendation for a COMFORTABLE booster for him. I prefer a high back, for safety...
Does anyone have one they love?
***EDITED He's not 60 inches - he's about 50 inches or about 4 feet.

If he's that tall he shouldn't need a booster.
He would be too tall for a booster. Just get him one of those neck pillows and he can sleep.
We have the graco high back booster.
60 inches is 5 feet. If he's really that tall, he doesn't need a booster. Really. The point of a booster seat is to adjust the way the seatbelt lays on children because they are designed for bigger bodies. "4 foot 9 is the magic number" is what I've read. If he's uncomfortable in the booster, why not take him out of it? This is the ONE carseat step that is NOT a step down in safety.
If you mistyped and he is infact shorter than 4'9" (57 inches) then I'd say, my son likes his Graco Turbo Booster quite a bit and the back can come off later if he just needs the low back.

We have a Compass high-back booster that we love. It's made by First Years. It's very lightweight, but very sturdy. We got ours at Buy Buy

if he's 5ft tall, he shouldn't need a booster. i've always heard 4'9" is the height to go without a booster. my 9 year old is on the taller side, and he's 54 inches... if your 6 year old is 5ft tall, that's extremely unusual - did you mean to type 60 inches?
i have the same question. I guess i'll have to weigh and measure my kids and then check back for your answers.
If the seatbelt sits on his shoulder the way it should, he shouldn't need a booster with a back anymore. a highback may not be safer, as it doesn't do anything but position the belt. maybe get a backless for the trip only, then he can use it again later when you're more comfortable with it.
we got a high back booster for our 4 yr. old, for when we need to transfer it quickly, but mainly she is still in her car seat with the 5 pt. harness.
