I need some unique ideas on what to get my daughter for her birthday on the 22nd. She is tired of the Littlest Pet Shop, Polly Pocket, dolls, stuffed animals, Barbie, and even Hannah Montana and High School Musical stuff. That really doesn't leave much. She does not have pierced ears and really doesn't care for jewelry. She has a watch and a DS game system and lots of games but I was trying to stay away from video games. She has already expressed that she does not want clothes for her birthday and we told her she cannot have her own room until she is 10 so I am out of ideas. Thanks for all the advice! I sure can use it.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well my dh and I got her a necklace and "grabber" earrings. I hope that she likes it. We let her sisters get her Camp Rock and fingernail polish.

Hi B.~

How about a really cute diary w/ a lock on it. They have some really cute, girly ones out there.

Hello B.,

My oldest daughter will be 9 yrs old in October. We have a big birthday party for her with her brother/sister who will be 6 in September and that is part of her present from us. However, on her actual birthday I take her to get her nails done at the salon and then we pick up her best friend and go out to the restaurant of her choice. The 6 year olds are left at home with a sitter. We started doing this 3 years ago and she does not want anything different. She loves the time to be pampered with me and she loves the time out to eat with out her little brother and sister. Maybe you can try something along the same lines. We started doing this because she also has more things than what she needs and is getting tired of a few things. Hope this helps.

Hi B. I found myself in this delima with my kids and I know its not much of a help right now but will maybe help for next year and or christmas time. I dont buy my kids any toys except for birthdays and christmas. For rewards we spend time and go to movies, skating, whatever activity the kids want to do. Then a couple of months before their birthdays I get them a toy magazine for them to circle items they like Then I get them one gift and pass the rest of the ideas on to family and close friends. Same thing for christmas... Last year we had a birthday party for my son that just turned 9 and asked everyone to bring a gift boy or girl age 9 to donate to the childrens hospital. (we tried this at 8 but he wasnt ready yet) Then we delivered all the gifts and my son said it was the coolest birthday ever!! I have been to a slumber party at great wolf lodge which was a lot of fun and lots of activities. ( The event itself was the birthday present) I hope some of these ideas help... Happy birthday to your daughter time go by too fast doesnt it.

Instead of another "toy that will be thrown away" why not an outing,
six flags, hurrican harbor, vacation to san antonio for the weekend... or maybe a slumber party with 2-3 girlfriends of hers just at a local hotel...
that was my biggest and best present when i was little..
we ofcoarse got all the treats of bed n breakfast, and swimming pool .. the works ... jsut try to think of a great DAY instead of a specific present.

Has she seen Camp Rock? My DD is Way into that right now. It comes to DVD on the 19th.
My advice is to go with movies, cds, or best of all, gift cards or money. I don't really care to give my kid a gift card, but if you don't know what to do, and she obviously likes to pick out her own stuff, then I think it's appropriate.

How about some coupons she can cash in, created by you and her dad....

Examples:
-one overnight trip with just mom (or dad)
-one movie and meal with just mom (or dad)
-lunch with just dad (or mom)
-a day at a craft shop (like Color-Me-Mine) with just mom
-a spa day including hair, nails, etc. with just mom
-one day of your choice with just mom or dad

My son is 8 and what we do is take him and 2 friends to a special event (last year we did arena football game, but with girl's a spa day I think would work) and then to dinner together. That goes over really well. Plus no party to plan because it is his party....

How about a Pretty Tea Set. Something she can hold on to and keep forever!
