My brother gave my 3 older kids nicknames, but he passed in Aug and never got the chance with my new lil princess.I have not been able to come up with anything special. her name is Savannah and a lot of my family try to call her vanna{i hate it}.so before they drive me insane i want to pick my own special name for her.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone. I do call her chunky monkey here at home, but due to the fact she is bi-racial i have heard some remarks over it. my brother use to call her his monkey- monkey cause she jumped and went nuts when she saw him come in..but i loved the name Savvy so i think thats a keeper and i'll just use her other one at home.

Do the nicknames of your other children rhyme with their names? If so, what about Anna or Hannah?

why not "nickname" her something to do with your brother's name - so that he can 'look after her from heaven' - just a thought -

I'm diggin' Savvy!! You could fix the spelling to be cuter, but what a "cool chick" name, eh? Savvie, Savi, Savvi... Lovin' it...How cute are you with your nicknames?

Good morning! I'm sorry to hear you lost your brother. Having this "unfinished" business with your kids makes it harder for you, I'm sure. I'd love to hear what your other kids' nicknames are...maybe there's a common thread through them...or if you talk more about your daughter, you will or one of us may see the "light" that shines in her more clearly and find the right nickname for her!

Have a good day!

How about Savy! Hard not to call her Vannah but I feel your pain, I would want that as the nickname either. Or just call her something that has nothing to do with her name. What was his name or nickname maybe you can work it in for her. Good Luck!

Since the other children got their nicknames from their uncle, try to think what he would call her.

H., my heart goes out to you. My brother died 6 years ago and never got to meet either of my children. He was only 32 years old and I was pregnant with my first when he and my father died (3 months apart). I know how it hurts:(

I was thinking how about Savy? Like Captain Jack Sparrow always says in the Pirate movies:)

I really like the idea of nicknaming her after your brother somehow. But in case that does not work I used the nick name my pap called me for my daughter. "peanut" Good luck

I hope you consider the names before picking one out not just what's cute. some can be prophetic so do be careful. I like to shorten names like "van", but my nickname suggestion would be "Savvy", no matter how you spell it. May GOD Bless you all! Miss V.

A nickname is something only you can really come up with. I have a few for my daughter; doodle bug, pumpkin doodle. Those are just mine for her. They just kind of hit me one day. My son I call him little man right now. He's only eight weeks and it was the first thing I thought when I saw him, my little man. I know lots of people call their son that but it's what came to me. I still have my nickname from my brother and he gave it to me years ago and it stuck. Whatever the first thought that comes to your mind when you think of her or something that she does or likes to do a lot. Hope this helps good luck!
