What's a pirate party without buried treasure? Write up a bunch of clues the day before and give the first one to your son at the party. If your son is younger, make the clues obvious like "Clue number 1: Look outside around your kiddie pool." If he's older make the clues harder, "You will have a splashing good time finding clue number 2." (You get the idea). Then, put clue number 2 by the kiddie pool which would have the next clue written on it. After 10 or so clues, have a buried treasure some where (or even one hidden in a tree). Just make sure the buried treasure has enough stuff in it for everyone at the party. Party Supply stores have cool pirate booty like compasses, telescopes, and gold rings. Good luck and have fun!!!

What about a treasure hunt? If the kids are older, you could even do one big map, and each kid gets a piece. That way, they all have to work together to find the treasure. You could also require that all kids talk like a pirate. You could have them make paper pirate ships, and see whose ship floats the best. Just some thoughts. Hope that helps.

Hi B. - I was thinking the same thing at Sarah but depending on the age buy some chocolte money and hit a treasure of those in areas. The kids can have those as their prizes too :o). If you are crafty you can also do a pin the treasure or pirate on the boat. Also - check out this site with tons of ideas.... http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com/html/pirate_party.html

It's a fall birthday and pirate themed, so how about a bobbing for treasure type of game. Big bucket or cooler full of water, throw some golden apples in there (looks more like a chest full of gold) and they bob away. You could enhance the game by marking the apples and giving away corresponding pirate's booty. If this is an inside party and you don't want 30 gallons of water on your living room floor, you could fill a similar large container with packing peanuts or other light fill, and put little goody bags in it and they reach in and grab one. Good luck and God bless!

I was thinking how about you go to the craft store and make little treasure chests with stickers and paint and what not....then you can have a map to search for the loot.....a treasure hut....with each persons invited has different places for their look to put in there box....

Games- depends on what ages you have there....

If you have a dollar tree store near you, you could buy a bunch of scarves and other costume items and have them dress as pirates as a show.
