Hi! Sometimes the strap of the adjustable waist pants/shorts sneaks off the button and into the abyss. Any ideas on how to get it out of there? My fingers won't fit inside to grab it. Thank you! :) S.

What can I do next?

I have this trouble all the time. What I do is to take the elastic completely out. Then at one end of the elastic attach a safety pin to it (a large one). This way it is easy to feed through the waist band , by pushing it through and gathering some material. Then hold on to the safety pin while pulling the material tight. Then do the same all the way around the band till you come out the other end. I hope this makes sense.

I just hate when that happens- usually when we are rushed. Sometimes a pair of tweezers works. A medium size chrochet hook also works well. If you don't have one they aren't expensive to keep a size G around just for this purpose. Good luck!

Pencils are the best for this, stick the eraser end of pencil through the hole on the side that is still hanging out until you feel the end of the strap catch on the eraser, then continue scrunching the fabric of the pants down the pencil until the eraser end pops out the other side along with the lost end of the strap. The rubbery eraser will grab the strap, and, once wrapped in the fabric of the strap, glide fairly easily through the 'tube'. You can usually feel the end of the strap and whether or not it is encompassing the eraser head. Good Luck!

A crochet hook - I used one for my maternity pants from Target last year:) It works great!

If you still have the other end pull the strap completly out. Put a safety pin on one end and feed it through (make sure to hang on to the end so that it does not pull through as well. If both ends are inside get a crochet hook to get into the waist band.
Good luck

Same thing happened to me...frustrating to say the least. I used a pointed nail file and tweezers to get it out. It wasn't easy.

Try using a pin or open safety pin and kind of push from the inside of the waistband through the material. It worked for me once. It takes some time and I acidentally jabbed myself a couple of times, but it's worth a try.

I find that a metal skewer (for making kabobs on the grill) is what works best for me. It's long and thin and I can get the tip of the skewer right in the button hole and pull it out easily.
Good luck!

What a great idea to make adjustable waist pants...but what a pain to retrieve the elastic when it gets pulled inside the waistband! If the elastic hasn't gotten pulled too far in, I find that tweezers work great. Just pinch the end of the elastic and pull it back out.
