Wow! You people really know our stuff! Thank you so much for all your help. I feel very informed! don't know that I will be able to remember it all, but thankfully, mamas don't use too many of these abreviations!

DH = dear husband
ds= dear son
dd = dear daughter
STTN - sleeping through th enight
dc = dear child
LO = little one
btw = by the way
wdyt = what do you think
wwyd = what would you do

These are the ones that I come across often in parenting boards. Understandable that they don't make sense yet, but pretty soon you'll be using them too!

many has already told you in other post what they stand for but I do not remember these.

s-o- l stands for son in law
s/o/l or snl can also stand for son n law

daughter in law would be dnl or one of the other say but it would start with the d

Mil for mother in law

bil would be brother in law
sil sister in law
dil for father in law

sm would be step mom
sd would be step dad

the main thing to learn is when you see the abbrev, think what the sentence is saying then think of words that would start with those letters, that was a help tome to learn instead of all the abbrevs.

Check out this site. When your son gets old enough to use the computer this site will probably be a life saver. http://www.netlingo.com/index.cfm

You've probably already received a response, but here goes:

the "d" usually stands for "dear".

So dh=dear husband
dw=dear wife
dc=dear child
dd=dear daughter
ds=dear son
etc.

Hope this helps!

dh, ds, dd- darling husband, son and daughter. If you scroll to the bottom of your screen and click on the help/FAQ section there is a link called the abbreviation demystifyer. That should answer all of your questions. Took me a while too.

HAd to reply to this one. Those abbreviations/text talk jumbles of letters make ,e feel so very old. I'm not yet 40 and have no idea what others are saying with this "new language." LOL (I know that one!) But I had to share one that I jsut learned. KWIM = know what I mean. As in, Avon rocks! I sell Avon as well and love the independance it gives me - the money's not bad either. KWIM?

Wow! you go some good answers there! I learned a lot.

Hey, Thanks to your son and to you! Two of our three kids are in the Army. Our son has been deployed to Iraq once, the daughter is anticipating going soon, so I know what you're going through there.

I have an unrelated question. How long have you been selling AVON? Do you have a downline? I have just started selling, but as a way to raise money for the 3 Day. So if you could give me ANY advise on how to promote that I would appreciate it. (I've also started Home Interiors and even online magazine subscriptions. But nothing has really taken off yet. Mostly because I don't know how to promote it, I guess, because these are all great products.)

I'm so glad you asked. I have been wondering what dh was forever. I thought it was "dumb husband" and I couldn't imagine why all these women were referring to their spouses in that manner.

I ask people to explain themselves so that I can get their meaning. I use some abreviations but I refuse to talk in abreviations. I consider it slang and we do not speak slang in this home. I like people who write what they have to say in a clear, consice manner, just ask them to explain so that you do not get the meaning wrong. I ask my friends not to abreviate anything so that I can get the full meaning of what they are trying to say. Maybe if you ask they will explain themselves.
