My 9 month old daughter is eating some table foods and baby food, plus she's still on the bottle for nap time and night time!!! Every time I give her FOOD she throws it up. But, she doesn't throw up the formula!!!? She has been keeping ear infections and her doctor doesn't want to put tubes in but she has been on antibiotics for almost 3 months Last time we went to her dr. she said her ears had cleared up, 3 days later she runnung 102 fever, we take her to ER and they say she has a viral infection and it has to do with her ears, but it's not an ear infection!!!!More antibiotics!!!! Could the throwing food up be from her ears? or do i need to find another doctor? get her checked for something else or what??? HELP!!!!!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, she has been eating table food fine til a week or so ago!!! It could be the antibiotics i guess....i'm gonna talk to her dr and if she isn't gonna do anything i'm just gonna take her to my ENT dr. I'll have to pay out of pocket but i'd rather do that than her have to suffer with this any longer!!! Thanks for all your help!!!!

Her ears could be causing some major vertigo that could be making her nauseaus. Or she could have a easy gag reflex so the food makes her throw up. Is this new? Has she ever been able to eat table food and keep it down? My son got tubes when he was 11 mos old and really didnt walk or creep along furniture but within a week after getting his tubes in he started walking everywhere. I think with him his balance was off due to his chronic ear infections. I might find a different doctor or take her straight to an ENT instead of going through the pediatrician. They should be able to help you out.

Yes, she could be getting sick from her ears. I would look more into getting tubes placed. She may have fluid , not due to a bacterial infection & may be on antibiotics for nothing. The antibiotics could be making her sick, also.

Some of the more powerful antibiotics cause nausea and vomiting. What was she on? My friend had a child that threw up all the time and his growth was being effected. After months they got a diagnosis from a specialist, and though I don't remember the name of the condition, his throat was too small. It made eating uncomfortable for him and made him throw up a lot. Truth is that there is a very wide range of things that could be going on. If your dr. isn't giving you an answer and you really feel there is a problem, request a referral to a specialist.

I don't have any experience with the nausea but ear problems, I do and with those circumstances I would definitely find another dr. If she's keeping ear infections or getting them frequently then she NEEDS tubes. Our son got his 1st set at 6 months old and had three sets total before he no longer had ear infections immediatly after one set would push their way out from his growth. Our drs. (pediatrician and ENT) both felt that if he went untreated with no tubes, the risk of hearing loss would be more serious than getting tubes. Their speech can also be delayed because they are hearing a muffled sound rather than clear sounds.

Have you talked with her doctor about the throwing up? When was the last time you saw the doctor? How much of this have you discussed with him/her? Don't change doctors unless you've given this doctor a chance to address these issues. Ask questions so that you understand the reasons for his decisions.

At this age your daughter should still be getting her main nutrition from formula. I'd stop with the solid food and go back to just giving her formula until this issue is resolved.
